I was shocked to learn in another thread that I was a poser because I actually use the knife clip on my knife!

What say ye, arfcom?

I guess I am a poser as well.

What, the one that holds it to your pocket so you can grab it in a hurry?

I would be a poser as well.  I don't think that you are a poser if you use a knife clip.  The clip helps to keep the knife in the same position so if you actually have to use it, you don't have to go digging about in your pocket for it.  It probably also makes it easier to use because there is less of a chance of it getting tangled in the pocket since it is right near the pocket opening.

What retard said this? Does using a rifle sling make me a poser too? Same basic thing IMO Jeebus lol

It was one of the most off the wall comments I have read here...

No, the clip is a very functional way of carrying a knife.  Sure beats fishing for the knive when you need it.

Whoever told you that is a retard.

I got tired of picking up my knife, and several times had people bring me my knife that I had dropped without noticing.  Now it stays IN my pocket.

Haven't lost one since.  Pocket clips are for posers.

What were the other options?  loose in pocket?  Tacticool sheath on belt?

Clips are fine.

eta: and usually useful in keeping the knife secure.

I've used a knife with a pocket clip for many, many years. (current one below)

My 1SG gave me my first one right before we started conducting live ambushes in the Korean DMZ.

It sucks to learn I'm a poser.

Hell no, you're using the feature of a product for its intended purpose.  People running around worrying about what other people do and who's a 'poser' are the posers anyway IMO.

Form follows function.  Gun owners should understand that, it's as simple as "yes, the plane does take off."

I lost almost every knife I've ever owned, the last one being a Buck knife that my cousin gave me for being in his wedding.    It fell out of my front pocket in a rental car.  None of them had a clip.

Since then I bought a Buck Rush 290 with the clip.  I carry it everywhere, clipped to the inside of my front pocket.  I have NEVER had it come loose.

The most 'poser' of those out there are those who call those who use items as they're intended to be used 'posers' because they're trying to make themselves out to be the high-speed, low drag real things that see past all the "marketing hype."

The only downside is that I am torn over whether I should call the part that attaches it to my pocket a 'magazine.'

[#35]
I guess I must be a poser too.  I've been carrying clipped inside my right side pocket for years.  It's never fallen out and always been right where I reach for it, even after hitting the water at pretty high speed.  If it didn't work, I wouldn't carry that way.  Sometimes being able to cut a line "right now" can be a matter of life and death.  I need my knife to be there, and always in the same place.

I wouldn't have even bothered with this poll had I known that he was 15 years old.

I don't have one right now.
I was "posing" with mine while driving and somehow the seatbelt got hooked under the clip and it tangled me up trying to get out of my truck , and then the clip snapped off.

Is it possible that it's a typo?

I mean the "l" and "p" are pretty close on a keyboard.  Maybe he meant to say "losers" in a more friendly, joking way - like "People who put beans in chili are losers"

While still idiotic - it would maybe make a little more sense, insofar as he's just slamming people who cannot keep track of their knife wihtout having it attached to them (like a little kid having his mittens sown to his coat, so he doesn't lose them).

Eiether way, it's a stupid comment - but "loser" is slightly less stupid than "poser", because "poser" make no sense at all.

(Btw - I don't know how old StudentofLiberty is, but his posts in another recent thread sure DID make him sound like some know-it-all high school kid).

Nonsense.  Chili with beans is "poser" chili - because the beans are a cheap substitute for meat.

More accurately, chili with beans might be called "ersatz" chili.  If you are poor, cannot afford meat, or simply don't have enough meat avilable, then there's nothing WRONG with putting some beans in your chili to fill it out, but it's no longer REAL chili.

I've come to this conclusion precisely because I am an objective "outsider" and don't have a horse in this race.  Proper chili should not have beans in it.  It's okay to put some in, if you don't have enough meat - or if that's just your preference or taste - but it's incorrect that claim that's the right way to make chili.

Also, that's the first time that "ersatz" has ever been used on Arfcom.

The threadjack will be complete when I point out that chili with meat is AMERICAN CHILI and chili with beans is MEXCIAN CHILI

It's sad to see how many people have already been "assimilated" by the subtle Mexican invasion, isn't it?

Thanks the knife clip, I actually carry my knife every day and havent lost it. Before it would fall out of my pocket in the car, or get lost in my pocket with keys, change, etc. The pocket clip is awesome- why wouldnt you use it? I like to tuck it inthe little pocket on jeans.
