A local shop has a chrome-plated P-38 Walther that has been in his glass case for years because he is asking $800 for it.![]() Another store has a faux Jungle Carbine converted by Santa Fe for $300. ![]() But the best deal I found was a Daewoo D200 Korean semi-auto rifle in 5.56 for $600! I really wanted the Daewoo but I didn't have the mula. It was gone the next day. Anybody else seen anything noteworthy lately while browsing the local shops? |

Whenever I discover a gunshop "find" I don't have the cash - whenever I have the cash I can never find a "find!" Worst find - Colt Series 70, 40% condition, non-funtioning grip safety, and nasty gouges in the slide behind the serrations - $750. ![]() Best find - Daewoo pre-ban for $550 in 2003. My "buddy" talked me out of trading a Mini-14 and a M11/9 for it. |

Years ago, like 16 or something, I was working in a gunstore. Someone took a pre-64 Model 70 in .30-06 with a compact Leupold 3x7 scope on it. Marked it $250 IIRC. About the same price as a new Leupold compact 3x7 scope. I didn't have the cash as I was just starting my hottly contested divorce, meaning the lawyer was getting all my extra $$$. And about the same time a Browning pistol came in. Can't remember the model number but it was a Sig 220 in .45acp with the heal mounted mag catch. I did take this one out for a test shoot. $200 I think. I didn't quite cry myself to sleep but I was rather bummed that one got away too. Can't tell you about the overpriced stuff because that would be just about any used/C&R gun on the rack of any store within 100 miles of here. |
| I found a pristine Remington M1903A3 at a gunstore in the area for $650... I'm kicking myself for not buying it, but I am in a bit of financial hardship because of the new house and is simply off limits. Dunno if it will still be there when I get out of the hole, but if it is, I will be one lucky SOB. |
I actually have a chrome plated, Nazi marked, matching numbers P-38. It shoots great and I gave $100 for it a few years ago. My best find in awhile was my FN/FAL G series at my favorite gun shop here. 100% condition unfired but no box.......$3,500 out the door. I love that damn gun, it shoots good too. |

NIB Norinco underfolder, $600 Russian Tigr, w/50rds thru it, w/balance of Czech silvertip 7.62x54r case, and all accessories $800 (Worst part was it was NIB just a 2 weeks prior, and the buyer traded it back in 'cause he didn't like it) for $850 Sportered Smith-Corona 1903A3 w/redfield front/rear sights for $125 |
I'd see if you can work out a "layaway" plan for it....it's worth a shot |

That's it! BDA! I simply couldn't recall which letters made up the model name. Only the one I lusted after had a nickeled frame with a blued slide. Beautiful pistol that shot like a house-a-fire! |
