When I was in the army, everyone talks about getting the "Dear John" letter.  I never did.  I have been out of the army now for 2 years.  I was talking with my wife (of  7 years) and she let it slip that while I was gone, that someone had tried to rape her.  She was at Bowling night and was drunk, she stayed at her friends (female) house, and passed out, when see came too there was a guy going down on her, with his pants off. She know that is all that happened. Now she tells me all of this.  I asked her why did she not tell me this when it happened and she said she was afraid I would come home and take care of him (the way he needs to be).  What would you guys handle this.  The guy is the brother of her ex best friend.

Take care of your wife. This is likely a very hard thing for her and while a large weight may be lifted another may have been put in its place...you.

If you love her, be her rock. The other guy will get his, in this world or hte next.

She needs to charge him with sexual assault, or you need to get a lawyer.

Be supportive, ask her what she wants to do and if she wants to go to the cops.  Don't force her to do it if she doesn't want to.
Then, later, after everything has died down and you've both put it behind you...the COC forbids me from saying what I would do at that point.
