So I've decided to give up being self employed and take a real job. I like what I do but can't stand doing all the other stuff (ie: invoicing, billing, bugging people for payments, ordering stuff, etc). I manufacture stuff now and am applying for a job in manufacturing. So my question is would you tell the interviewer the truth when it comes to why I've decided to take a real job?

I too am in a similar situation. I would tell em right out, I want stable work and not have to bother with the troubles of invoicing, marketing and other BS. Not in those exact words mind you, but you get the idea.

Same deal here.

Be tactfully honest...I said the market was slow and I wanted stable work.

The application asked for,

Favorite part of old job:
Flexible Hours

Least favorite part of old job:
Flexible wages

You might be better off hiring an accountant.

My father-in-law, for example, is retired.  But still takes small odd jobs like yours
just to keep himself occupied.  Works for very very little.

Being your own boss, if you can survive on your own wages, is always worth it...
from what I've been told.
