Either your new camera is miraculous, or your photo skills are advancing at a phenomenal pace. Each of those is good enough to be in a Time Magazine - Year in Photos - type book. Seriously, how much input are you giving your camera, and how much is "auto"? For example, the nigh picture of the engines is the equivalent of an O Winston Link photo, in color. What did you do to take that picture? It is obviously a long exposure, but not very, because the stars are pinpoints, and you can't see all that many. Flash, or additional light? What is the "splotchy" look on the engines - weird reflections? Shadows from trees? Dirt/dust? |
Well, I've had the dSLR since April and it has over 6K clicks on it now. The learning curve with digital is much faster than it was with film. I can also be fairly "enthusiastic" and "driven" about a hobby and have studied it a lot. As for the shot, it was all ambient lighting. I NEVER use auto. It went like this, tripod mounted Canon 400D / 17-40L, apeture priority, f8 for 30 seconds at ISO200. The photo has only a bit of sharpening, contrast and WB adjustment, no serious manipulation. The splotches are from very weathered paint. Thanks for the comments. |
That's a tough question. I like both schemes but prefer the older one. Nice shot! |
haha, yeah, he's a good mountain dog |
