Among the 39 specific recommendations in the report:

   * Congress, as well as state, local, and tribal governments, should enact laws requiring that all gun sales and transfers proceed through a Federally licensed firearms dealer, thus ensuring that a mandatory Brady background check will be conducted on the transferee.
   * Congress should enact an effective ban on military-style assault weapons. (Last week, on the third anniversary of the expiration of the previous Federal assault weapons ban, four police officers were shot in Miami, one fatally, by a criminal armed with an assault weapon.)
   * Congress should enact effective bans on .50 caliber sniper rifles and armor-piercing handgun ammunition.
   * Congress should enact legislation to allow federal health and safety oversight of the firearms industry.
   * State and local governments should regulate and/or limit the sale of multiple handguns as a measure to reduce gun trafficking.
   * The Federal government should increase funding to ATF for personnel and technical assistance to combat gun violence.
   * Congress should repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the sharing on gun trace data.
   * State and local governments should mandate that every gun sold comes with a local or security device that meets minimum safety standards to help protect against accidental discharge and misuse.

What report is this you're writing about?  And why would any of this shit need to be passed?

Not that you will actually read this instead of regurgitating the same old drivle from the Brady Bunch, but here goes anyway.

   * Congress, as well as state, local, and tribal governments, should enact laws requiring that all gun sales and transfers proceed through a Federally licensed firearms dealer, thus ensuring that a mandatory Brady background check will be conducted on the transferee.

Not necessary. The people you are supposedly trying to stop pay no attention to any of the requirements. That's why they are commonly called criminals.

   * Congress should enact an effective ban on military-style assault weapons. (Last week, on the third anniversary of the expiration of the previous Federal assault weapons ban, four police officers were shot in Miami, one fatally, by a criminal armed with an assault weapon.)

Again, not necessary. The "assault weapons" ban did NOTHING! Noone has been able to say anything other than it should continue and they need to study the results more. Additionally, see previous answer.

   * Congress should enact effective bans on .50 caliber sniper rifles and armor-piercing handgun ammunition.

Again, not necessary. Those rifles you complain about are big, expensive, heavy and expensive to feed. (About 48 inches long, over $3000, more than 20 pounds and about $50 per box of 10 rounds) As far as that evil armor-piercing ammo goes, only police and military has (or can get) it. By the way, you forgot teflon coated when you mentioned the armor-piercing ammo. (That would be the KTW ammo. Made for the police back in the 70's, and the teflon is there to protect the barrel of the officer's handgun)

   * Congress should enact legislation to allow federal health and safety oversight of the firearms industry.

Nope. Government should stay the hell out of as much as possible. Besides, there are enough gun laws as it is. The firearms industry is one of the most heavily regulated industries there is. Plus, there are the current HEPA laws to consider. I certainly don't want the gov't to decide who is mentally fit enough to be allowed to purchase and own a gun. (How much do you want to bet it will be just like the CCW permits in San Fransisco? Politicians can have them, but ordinary citizens need not apply as you don't have an actual "need" for one)

   * State and local governments should regulate and/or limit the sale of multiple handguns as a measure to reduce gun trafficking.

Again, not necessary. It hasn't worked to reduce crime anywhere it has ever been tried.

   * The Federal government should increase funding to ATF for personnel and technical assistance to combat gun violence.

Wrong. The BATFE should be largely disbanded. Far too many of them are jack-booted thigs, and they enjoy the things their position lets them get away with. (Waco and Ruby Ridge, anyone?)

   * Congress should repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the sharing on gun trace data.

Once again, WRONG. The Amendment does no such thing. It keeps the data restricted to proper law enforcement agencies, for actual law enforcement purposes. It is not to be shared with Mayor Bloomberg and his ilk for the purpose of frivilous lawsuits.

   * State and local governments should mandate that every gun sold comes with a local or security device that meets minimum safety standards to help protect against accidental discharge and misuse.

A feel good idea that does nothing. If stupidity and carelessness could be legislated away it would have happened by now. (Also, just what is a "local" security device, and who gets to decide what the minimum standards are? I bet it means that the gun must be totally disassembled and in a safe)
