A very close friend of mine, “Jack” is having a rough time with his girlfriend, “Jane”. Last spring Jane broke up with Jack after a solid year, but the two remained very close, dated, messed around and were for the most part “together” during the summer. They both agreed to see other people but neither did. However, things were not the same and Jane became mean and miserable, and began to drink. Jack came back to school in Vermont and Jane remained in RI, although Jane has come to visit Jack, and visit in the “girlfriend” visit. In early August Jane was invited to go to California, by her cousin to live and work. While Jack is happy for Jane and the opportunity that she has, this is also the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with, and he has expressed these feeling to Jane. She has decided still to go. She visited this past weekend, and while most of us (us being his friends) like Jane and respect the decision, we want our buddy to be happy but at the same time were young and full of mistakes and we don’t want Jack to go crazy over this girl when he should be enjoying his college years. imho- Jake needs to cowboy the f@$# up, do something drastic and not let her go to California, where there are *strange* people, and for all we know she might not comeback. |
