I've never seen it, but am interested.  I was thinking of getting the 1st season box set.  Is it worth it?

Jack will kill you if you don't buy it.  Greatest show ever.

I want Jack Bauer to have my kids and I'm a man.

Being that I have NEVER seen it, do you all recommend that I start with the 1st season and work my way up or just go with season 5

(slap!)

Start with Season 1 of course! It does a great job of setting the pace.

Yes.  Buy Seasons 1 through 4 then start thinking fairly hard about any beyond that.  It DOESN'T get better.

Start with season 1 and work your way up,  Some seasons have people that come in out of the blue and if you dont see them in order you won't know who they are.

Plus if you don't you won't understand wtf is going on in some episodes in later seasons.

Yeah, it's a neat concept for the first couple of seasons, but after a while it goes from predictable (ie didn't I see this exact same thing happen two years ago) to ridiculous.

And once you get past season 4 you'll think "wow, season 1 of this show, and every season following, has been so great, why does the show suck now?"

Granted, Jack kicked some serious ass last season...

I bought the whole 5 seasons and the first half of season 6 at the PX in Kosovo in May.  Too bad they're all in my gear which has yet to be sent to me as I do not have a permanent address yet!  I sure could have used them to pass the time on my laptop when I was in the hospital for 6 weeks.

Rented the first season over a few weekends earlier this year.  Immediately purchased Season 2 and went through it in a whole weekend (good rainy day watching).  Season 3 started lagging for us...have only made it halfway though an still have 4 waiting.

When the clock shows at the beginning of a break, we have the timing down pat of what time will show in the next scene.

Definitely start with season I though as you will not be able to follow particular characters who show up in later seasons and know why they are are to be trusted or not.

Great show. Enjoy it.

Jeanine Garafalo will be on 24 this season. Woof. Kiss the show goodbye.

It is my most favorite show EVER. Season 6 was kinda mediocre though. I mean it was good, by most television standards but it didn't stand out as outstanding. Season 7 sounds like it might be a disaster.

Don't buy it.

Rent it.

and before you think about renting it, check your local library....mine has at least one box set available to be borrowed.

By "go to town on her" I'm assuming you mean busting a cap or roughing her up, not a bedroom scene, correct?

I just did a little vurp at that last thought. You know, when you burp a little but a little vomit comes up. That leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Kind of like what Jack would be tasting if he had a kissing scene with her.
