I never learned morse, but had to read some typed transcripts. This was 30 some ought years ago. The IMI is a question mark, and the Q signal was not an American signal nor one of our allies. Might have been from an aircraft. Might also be an incorrect Q signal, but it's all I remember.

Not from the country I am talking about back in the 70's. From what I remember, anyway. I remember the IMI thing because there is a town in Ethiopia, Imi. ETA: With "QRS IMI" you might imply the aircrew didn't know their location, but were actually playing a joke saying they were over Imi, Ethiopia. |
