I just picked up 450 rounds of Federal Classic 115 JHP +P+ ammo. My question is will I be able to fire all rounds before my Glock 19 Kabooms?

J/K Is it ok to shoot this ammo in the ole Glockster?

Could somebody post a link to inform me of what +P means, and its implications for my firearms?

Thanks

It's not only +P in this case it's +P+ =(Extra Hot!)

Glock w/+P+ = kABOOM

Although I think they sometimes can kaboom from not having a fully supported chamber, I think the most common reason they kb is because of shooter being ignorant and shooting lead jacketed reloads. That is a no no in polygonal rifled barrels from what I understand. The lead builds up in the polygonal rifling.

+p means it's up to 10% over the normal SAAMI rating for the caliber. +p+ is a marketing term that doesn't have a technical meaning.

Glock kabooms result from hot loads in the unsupported chambers of .40, .357, or 10mm versions. Their 9mm guns have supported chambers and would KB about as easily as any other 9mm pistol, I imagine.

ETA: Where the heck do I find 9mm+P ammo anyway? The only places that sell ammo around here are Academy and Wal-Mart, and none of the online dealers I know of have it. No Cor-Bon ammo either.

I want some SERIOUS defensive ammo stocked up for when I get my CZ-75B.

I shoot +P+ in my Glock 19 all the time.  I have not died yet.  The glock 9mm's rarely KB, in fact I have never seen a case of it happening. 40 and 45 on the other hand...well...crap.

Here is a pic of my Glock 19.

What about Hirtenberger subgun 9mm?  I bought a few cans of it for my Uzi.  It's very 'snappy'.  Is it loaded more than 10% above SAAMI?  Just curious as I would never shoot it in a pistol.

SAAMI max pressure is 32000psi IIRC, +P is above 38000psi, again IIRC. +P+ is above 38000psi.

That stuff HAS and WILL blow up pistols. It's designed for open-bolt SMG's ONLY.

That said, feel free to donate some to the poor, jobless college student here.

If you're talking about the L7A1

HAZARDOUS AMMUNITION

Washington--The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) has been
advised by Hirtenberger AG, Hirtenberg, Austria, that certain 9X19 mm
caliber ammunition produced by Hirtenberger is unsafe for use in any
handgun.

The ammunition, designated L7A1 and produced ln the years 1990 through
1992, was produced for the British Ministry of Defense specifically for
use in submachineguns under adverse conditions. The ammunition was loaded to produce pressures far in excess of that intended for use in handguns.

The manufacturer advises that up to 12 million rounds of this ammunition
has recently been sold on the world surplus market. The ammunition can be
identified by the following head stamp located on the bottom of the
cartridge case

12 O'clock position: HP
3 O'clock position: 90, 91, or 92
6 O'clock position: L7Al
9 O'clock position: the marking of a cross within a circle

This ammunition should not be fired.

I got some Federal Hydra-Shok 9mm+p+ from Cheaper Than Dirt about a year ago.  50 round boxes, don't remember the cost.  I gave   what I didn't shoot, and my 9 milli to my brother, so I haven't looked for it in quite a while.  I carried it in my Kel-Tec P-11, so no reason a G19 couldn't handle it.

Try:

www.mahsupplies.com
www.streichers.com
www.gunbroker.com - a guy sells cases of Winchester Ranger +p and +p+ for about $180...

Not cheap but you can get it...

Yup.  Awesome ammo.  It comes in 1200 round cans.  I've read where some people have fired it in Glocks, but I wouldn't do that.

Theoretically. There isn't a SAAMI spec for "+p+", so you just have to assume it's above +p.

Ya thats basically what I was saying, I'm not sure if I want to know what the pressure of some of the rounds I've fired in my CZ-75 have been.

Shooting Federal 9BPLE won't hurt your G19 a bit.
