Tired of using Behr and getting so-so results.

I prefer Glidden.

My contractors were using Dunn Edwards last I checked.

How much do you want to spend per gal?  Seems like $30 and up for premium.

Ummmmmm, no

Store has 1/3 off sale right now, so a $30 gallon is $20. Just need to pick a brand.

I am tired of the Behr and the lousy support given.

Glidden works for me.

I had horrible luck with Glidden. Not much better with Behr. (Does a Behr shit in the woods? No, he shit on my deck."

I just painted 3 rooms with Lowes house brand. Excellent results. Creamy consistency. 2 coat coverage over RED, with no primer.

Ace Hardware actually makes their own paint. It's damn good.

Benny Moore can't be beat. You will be very satisified.

Kelly Moore is very good.

I use Benjamin Moore or Pratt & Lambert. They both go on smooth and are easy to work with.

And remember, even if you don't think you need to prime, you should probably prime anyway.

I managed Ben Moore stores for years, painted my entire home with it and I can tell you that you that you will be very happy with the coverage and durability of their paints.

I also worked at HD, and can attest that Behr paint is durable, but covers like crap.

What about Porter Paints?

I've used it on my ceilings and was happy, just wanted to see what others thought, thanks.

Also just what I have found, sometimes 2 coats isn't even enough with like colored primer under it!

FWIW I painted the interior of my house with Olympic.  I'm happy with the results and it's held up well, two years.

YMMV

999 out of 1,000 complaints are about deck stain because 99.99% of consumers dont understand wood and dont properly prepare the surface (thats right, bleaching your wood isnt preperation)

Having said that every national (and independent) paint test I have seen from the paint companies ranks either Behr or Ralph Lauren #1 for interior paint (depending on what day the test was conducted). Ralph Lauren is sold at HD and is made by the parent company of Glidden (ICI).

For exterior paint the high rankers are Glidden  and Benjamin Moore (I forget exactly which one). I do not have difinitive proof but insiders tell me, and I could make one hell of a case, that the Glidden paint that ranks #1 for exterior sold at ICI stores and Glidden Evermore sold at HD are the same thing in different cans.

Olympic paint and stains from Lowes are also very good, as is American Tradition. With Olympic paint you take a slight risk, as I have heard of some very bad batches, to the point of Lowes pulling the line off the shelf in select stores until new batches were recieved.

The bottom line is, you can buy a paint at Lowes or Home Depot that will be 1/2 to 1/3 the price of a BM or SW or Porter that has as good or better performance.

Go to Sherwin Williams and ask what their cheapest interior semi-gloss is per gallon. Go to Lowes and check the most expensive. The results are laughable. You'd laugh even harder if you saw the tests results from independent labs.

OK, first off, I have used tons of Behr paint and while their lighter colors are fine, the darker colors suck at covering, are runny, and just plain hit or miss in quality over the years.

I have used the Ralph Lauren paint with good results but it is not exactly inexpensive.

The ONLY Glidden product I will use is the Gripper primer. The paint is like water. (at least the stuff from Lowes or HD).

I will be going with Benjamin Moore for 2 reasons. First is I have nothing but good things to say about how it covered on my ceilings and second, it is on sale for 1/3 off whih puts it at $21 a gallon. Damn good price.

I have always had good results w/Behr premium. I have used it for years in and out and like it alot. I have never had a problem with coverage or it being to runny. In fact what sold me was a few years when hurricane jeanne came thru, it destroyed my house. When I walked thru the first time after the storm I looked at my bay window, and above it hanging down was a bubble in the paint that was full of rain water that easily held twenty gallons of water. It was about 2 ft by 3 ft and hung down about two feet. I figure there was 150 pounds of water in that bag
