I want to ask the LEOs on this board, and other boards, a question. I don't want this to get into a cop or civilan bashing thread. I hope everyone will answer honestly and act like adults on this. This question has intrested me for a long time and I would like to hear some other LEOs opinions on it. The set-up: Many people believe when the time comes for a house to house check and removal of firearms the military will do this. I believe the local LEOs will have to do this. Now for the question: If this time comes and the US Constitution is not ammended, it's an executive order, what would you do in this situation? Most of the local LEOs I've asked on this are split on this. It seems most of the older ones are against doing it and the younger ones will do it without hesitation. |
They will do as ordered . No question about it , none whatsoever . If you think otherwise you are just fooling yourself. Look at NOLA and the gun grabs that went on there when people needed them most. |

My department does not have the manpower to effectively do a house to house search. Lets do the math. There are approximately 162,723 houses, apartments, condos, etc in my city. There are 700 something cops. Say we started to hit houses with 4 man teams to look for guns. Now, we really don't have a lot of overhead in regards to manpower so most of these teams would have to be cops getting overtime pay. Even so, we could probably only man about 20 of those teams on any given day. Say during a 10 hour day they might be able to hit 10 houses per team per day. That means we could probably search 200 houses a day. 162,723 / 200 = 813 days or 2.2 years to search every house in the city. I just don't see it happening. |

except for a very few contrarian cops here on arfcom, what is the payoff for a cop admitting that they would confiscate here I think it would come down to a personal decision that would be made when the order was given. I believe that regular LEO would not be able to accomplish this anyway I believe very litle good will be accomplished by this thread. |
Yes--it's simply an inane question which has no answer. ![]()
