A post on the thread formerly known as the Edit Button thread got me thinking of this. What all weird names have yall run into? Being from the South, we sure get or share. Examples: My 7th grade English teacher lived down the street from twin boys named Larry and Harry Butts. My wife went to school with these kids: Abc (pronounced ah-BEE-see) Cde (see-DAY) Orangejello (or-AHN-jelo) Lemonjello (le-MAHN-jelo) And, my personal favorite (a little background included) My grandmother was a social worker. One of her occasional duties was to go to the hospital to take custody of babies that were being given up for adoption. The State let the mother put a name on the birth certificate before taking custody. This one mother (of an ethnic origin that will remain nameless) decided she really liked a name/word she had just heard. She actually named her daughter... wait for it.... true story.... Episiotomy! ![]() (Linky for guys with no wives) So, what all names have yall run across? |

Went to a new orthodontist yesterday with my son. Sarah was the techincian that did most of the work. When we got ready to leave, they gave us a little slip of paper with the next appointment on it. It also said "I look forward to seeing Sarah Queer." I had a hard time keeping a straight face walking out of the office.

I once knew a kid from South America - his name was "Nodik" - pronounced just like it looks. I also knew a guy who legally changed his name to "Coup DeVille". I knew another guy who legally changed his name to "DJ Danger". I also knew a guy who's real name was "Rusty Battles". |
I forgot about that one! My wife went to school with a Female, too! Amazing.

Some people at work just had a baby and named it "Ny'Asia" Another guy at work is named Nick, and wanted his child to have his name, but didn't want to have a Nick Jr. As a compromise, he named him "Nicktavius" I used to know a guy named "Max Justice"; last I heard he was working as a Sheriff's Deputy. |

We ran a medical call on a guy named Isa Niger. Also on a kid named Shithead. They pronunced it Sha heed. But Shithead was the name on his prescription bottles. Felt really sorry for that kid. His parents needed to be beat with a stick. Also ran into the Twiddledick sisters. Benica and Anita Twiddledick. |
The main character in the Pressfield book "Gates of Fire" was names Xeones, not aware of any real historical counterpart though... Fictional character. |
I googled the book you mentioned and it according to Wikipedia there is a Chapter on names. It came out in 2006, my friend told me of the Shithead girl in 1998, when he first got started in photography, which is why he was doing student photos working for a studio/photography company. I just wished my memory was better. I've also been told many funny names from a police officer who works in a low income area, and his wife who is a teacher at an elementary school in the same neighborhood. I wished they were urban legends, but sadly some people are stupid enough to give their kids names that will hurt their future. |
