Check out this video of me testing a new less-lethal rifle on a guy.

Made hot.

Appears to be a pepper ball gun.

He looks like he could still attack you. He is distressed but does not appear incapacitated. He is walking around smiling/or grimacing, can put his hands on his hips etc.

You know this is a weapons board right ? A pic and description of the weapon would be nice.

Here is a link to the picture of the rifle. It is like a pepperball gun, just based around the M4 platform.

I wasn’t trying to punish the guy, I shot him twice, and had 16 more rounds on tap... The rifle shoots a .68 caliber frangible plastic projectile at 400fps... needless to say it hurts like a mother, then the pepper powder gets you!

Looks like a double tap to the upper lip region should be standard op after a couple to center mass

It's a pepperball gun.  Loads of fun for dirty hippies.

Its not technically a pepperball gun. The company I wouk for purchased the manufacturer of pepperballs and we make our own now. They are half the cost of a pepperball, and we have a civilian version coming out around August 30th.

Edit: It is lots of fun to shoot hippies!

I hate the pepperball gun because its not effective and leaves oozing sores which means a trip to the hospital before the jail. The seals go bad and the dam things wont hold a charge. Plus they are very expensive for what is essentially a paintball gun.

The video worked better than any pepperball gun use in the field ever has for me.

I have a friend who invented the actual pepperballs.

They aren't made to totally incapacitate someone. But it is good for crowd control/riots and one can mace someone from a greater distance if they have - say a knife or bat or other melee weapon. This can persuade them to drop it.

And - uh - all pepper ball systems i have ever seen ARE just paintball guns with a 40% markup.

"Less-than-lethal" could mean anywhere between "mildly annoyed" to "persistent vegetative state". I'm not sure I'd be willing to sign up for first-hand testing!

I can tell you from first hand experience that there are no oozing sores, just mild bruising. I have been shot in the chest stomach and back over 100 times in the last 6 months.

The seals going bad are a real problem with pepperball products, that’s why we designed this new weapon. It is not pressurized until use, unlike pepperballs products.

Our weapon is more effective than pepperball because it shoots faster, and the powder fill that we use is stronger/more effective.

On the topic of lethality:
This technology has been used for 10 years with no death caused or attributed, unlike Taser.

What about the woman killed by the FN Herstal  pepperball gun in Boston during the baseball (IIRC) riots ?

Innocent bystander from long range to the eyeball. Hopefully it killed her instantly, and she didn't feel the effect of the pepper.

I edited my post , it was an FN Herstal , not H&K .

I've been wanting to see LE use paintball guns loaded with the re-ball paintballs (Solid rubber).

They're supposed to be used at 150-180FPS at maximum.....Potentially, they could be fired at 300-350fps, enough to work like a beanbag round or such.

That was NOT a pepper ball.

Pepperballs are paintballs with thin plastic shells, vs gelatin in regular paintballs. These will perform and act like standard paintballs. Even at higher velocities than what is considered acceptable for 'game play' your biggest risk is loosing an eye.

Now - the XM 303 - which, btw, my friend also invented with FN, uses a custom projectile. It looks like a finned pistol bullet, with the bismuth for extra weight and various payloads. Here is the capsicum round:

Unlike paintballs/pepperballs these things could do some real damage in the wrong place. I have seen pictures of what looks like golf ball sized dents in solid steel doors from testing (iirc- from a distance of ~100ft)

with which product? With pepperball brand i have had to take plenty of suspects to the hospital for oozing sores from pepperballs. Usually if the pepperball hits anywhere where there is not much flesh over the bone such as shins, elbows, knees, chin, forehead, jaw line, backs of hands or tops of feet.

What is an XM 303?  Heard of a FN 303.  Bad ass little less than lethal device.  I hear the Bismuth has a nasty tendency to get imbedded in the skin.

Hey Look! A TAPCO pepperball gun.

TAPCO???

Thanks for all the comments so far.

The FN 303 is deffinatly ot a pepperball gun or a PAVA ball gun, it hits with 3 times the force and about 5 times the mass.

We have a .50caliber civilian model coming out as I said, but you all seem to be interested in the "tactical" versions... maybe they will be available to civilians some day :-)
