| If you could go back in time and fight with the spartans, what would be your weapons load out for a squad of ten men? |
|
10 10/22's with suppressors and 50 round mags. 20,000 22LR rounds on each man. 200,000 rounds of ammo. Have some locals reload mags as needed while you fire. Set up overwatch positions and snipe with head shots at the Persians. Greek phalanx can hold the pass while you snipe at will. 200,000 potential kills for a 10 man squad would turn the battle. |
Damn arrows. Hey OP, is it too late to change my answer? |
Well i forgot to state the amount of ammo. Oh and the M4's have bayonets too, lol.
Distance is the key factor. how far can an arrow travel? more then 800 meters? I dont think so. |
Just use those huge riot shields that the police use and you're good to go. A light armored car would work wonders too! |
You've got the correct plan. One to break contact. The other to finish them off. |
Yeah but there stillbadass. |
After a bunch of 250lb Greeks have spent the night pounding your ass you really are going to have a bad ass!
|
I don't think 50k guys are going to stick around to find out how 200k of their buddies got wipped out. |

Every man would have a pack mule. A pack mule can carry something like 300 pounds. Men in the field need logistical support, even in the ancient world. You don’t carry all your supplies on your back. 100 pounds or so of that would be devoted to food, tents and other essentials. That leaves about 200 pounds for stuff plus what a man can carry on his own back. You need some claymores. 12x M16 A2 rifles. (Two spares plus some common spare parts.) 3,000 rounds of 5.56 per man. 1911 pistol with 100+ rounds per man. An assortment of grenades, trip flares, illumination flares, etc. Claymores, lots of claymores. Binoculars Two way radios Stainless steel mesh “shark suits” for everyone. Arrow proof helmets with face masks. Remember, the Spartans were winning until they got flanked. So you don’t have to beat the entire army yourself. Just soften them up some and shut down that goat path. Station about five men on that pass with the Phocians. Make sure the Phocians understand that the pass is going to get attacked and that they must defend it at all costs. Send out sentries and prepare defensive positions. Set up command detonated claymores. Also set up some trip flares to act as early warnings. The radios will keep the two groups in communication. That leaves you five men to face the main attack. Your armor will stop the arrows without a problem. And you will have cover from your prepared positions. So, all you’ve got to do is start picking people off at 800 meters and keep shooting until they get within a hundred yards. Then fall back behind the Spartans and let them take the charge. You then get on a platform (you’ve prepared earlier) and shoot over the heads of the Spartans, aim for people who look important. You can also toss grenades into the Persian ranks. The Persians will be facing weapons that seem magical. None of them will have ever heard anything as loud as the muzzle blast of the M16… until the grenades go off. You don’t have to kill all of the Persians to guarantee a Greek victory. Just scare them enough and they will run away. Now, if you really want to do it right, get a boat with 40mm Bofors and destroy the Persian navy. Without naval support their army is dead. |
You don't need to hold off 250,000 - you just need to break their will, and then they'll run. A few mini-guns chopping the front lines into hamburger - from far beyond arrow range - would probably accomplish that |
