Could an LEO or lawyer type.....awe what the hell, "anyone" give me likely citeable offences (generic or otherwise, Idaho) to the following scenario: I am in traffic, stopped at a stoplight. I observe a driver in another vehicle smoking a cigarette. The driver finishes smoking the cigarette and tosses it out the window to the ground. I exit my vehicle & retreive the cigarette and I "return" the cigarette (extinguished) to the drivers vehicle by tossing it back through the drivers window. I return to my vehicle. discuss |

I am pretty sure that you are not supposed to exit the vehicle on a street under any conditions. Throwing a cig back at the driver may be an offense. -Helen ETA: I would love to know the actual legal ramifications...on a number of occasions I have seen people toss buckets of chicken wings out of their cars

If you did that to me, you had better be sure you could whip my ass becuase you would certianly have that opportunity. T (I'm thinking that would a "citeable" offense ??) |
Don't know about citable offenses, but I *hate* it when inconsiderate people throw their crap out on the roadways. I don't care if it's a cig butt, or a gum wrapper, or whatever. Put that crap in your little ashtray and throw it in a garbage can next time you stop. Is that so difficult?

Around here, the fire danger is so high, and the threat to peoples homes and farms/ranches is so high, that said driver would likely be drug out of the car and have the sheesh beat out of them. The sheriff might look the other way. However, 3 miles south, you'd be shot for smoking by the commies. |
Then I really don't have a clue !! T (In July, I will have stopped smoking for three years.) |
I have "heard" the rumor that in Florida under certain conditions throwing a smoldering cig butt out your window is a felony due to fire hazards |
|
I know that here in WA it is a citeable offence to throw a ciggarett butt out the window on two accounts. First=littering if its not still lit, second=illegal to throw burning material from a motor vehicle. A friend of mine found that out the hard way and was cited (non felony) |

20 something tourists from nh cleaned the contents of a spilled cooler in their trunk all over the gas pump island in front of me and left it there while I was gassing bike up Mem day weekend. donuts, paper and foil trash, garbage.. really pissed me off. I wanted to wind the box of donuts at their cars when they drove off. As far as getting out of your vehicle in traffic, I don't have a problem w/ it. Of course Maine traffic is, well, generally light. Sometimes, it's easier to help get the cows out of the road than to wait for them to move. |
