I was cleaning out my pantry to make preps for my cat who is about to have kittens(don't gorss out,it's a huge walk-in pantry). Well, there was this large jar of picles that had only 1 picle but I had sliced up a few cucumbers to add to the brine and was going to let them age before I enjoyed them with crackers and sausage and BEER. I forgot all about them and lo and behold,5 years later,I find them! I opened the jar up and found that they smell good, but the cucumbers look very opaque, like if I touch one it'll fall apart. I was tempted to try one out but thought I would seek the wisdom of other fellow idiots! What do y'all think? I normally keep a small jar of crunchy dills in the fridge, after eating a few pickles to make room,I'll put onion slices in there for my sandwiches and that jar usually last a few years no problem.

should be good still, as long as they were sealed and jarred properly.

Like forever, nothing can live in that soup. They ought to be REAL good by now

If you did not seal/ sanitize the jar before storing your cuke and brine solution 5 years ago, I would not eat one of those!

Hah, I just tossed them in there but everything was very clean. I was going to put them in the fridge when I had some room but forgot all about them.
