Does anyone here carry insurnace on your firearms?  I am considering taking a policy out, but am nervous to even call around different carriers because of what they may do with the information I provide.

Who do yall use?

The NRA has insurance. I think I'm enrolled, but I'm not 100% sure, and the "confirmation of benefits" they sent me was also trying to sell me accidental death insurance as well.

Mine said "how much coverage do you need" I told them and they are now covered.  I keep a list and pictures for my own records

I hate that I have to give a list of what I have.  If the information falls in the wrong hands, I will get robbed and have to deal with dead robbers.

I used State Farm.

State Farm added a rider to mine. They didn't ask for any info on the guns I insured.

I do need to update the rider. I think I have one gun that is worth more thna the whole rider.

I use these guys:

historicfirearms.com/

They don't have any restrictions on use of the firearms and they don't require any serial number or identifying info unless it a single item worth over $10,000. At the amount of insurance I carry, my premium is about $3.40/thousand.

I have my insurance through USAA.  No serial numbers, just a number of weapons, and rough dollar amount.

If anyone thinks that they will be covered on their renters insurance (for those that rent) you need to check.  I found out I was not.

My renters insurance covers mine. Anything I own up to $30k. Also have the free NRA $1k policy, for whatever that's worth....

That's per year, but the less you insure, the higher the per $K premium, plus I've had the policy for about 3 years, so the intro rate might now be higher.

www.collectinsure.com  they are very good, and helpful.  I actually had a claim that was processed immediately with a reimbursement to me in 2 weeks.  No problems.

you can also up your NRA coverage, looks pretty easy to do.  More expensive than some of the other prices quoted, probably because there isn't a whole house behind it as well.  However, a lot of insurance companies won't insure firearms without a pile of crap, if at all.  The NRA program will cover you.

Make sure you read the special limits on certain types of personal property.  I am a former property insurance adjuster, and I found NOBODY ever read the special limits.  We once had to pay a guy only $100.00 on his $20,000 baseball card collection (kept them in a cardboard box in a kitchen cabinet, and his stove caught fire and the FD hosed the whole place down) because that was the limit on baseball cards.  He was furious, but for a few extra bucks he could have had the whole thing covered.

I called my usual homeowners ins. and got each of them insured specially - I forget the term, but the coverage is much better, and they are covered at full replacement value.  I did the same with my camera gear and all the big jewelry in the house.

went like this.. description (make/model) and serial number, and cost.  I made a list and emailed it to them, they added it to the policy.  no other nonsense, or bs.  My insurance agent (she) didnt even choke up a lung or anything with the long long list of EBR's ..

Does anyone else have the extra NRA insurance?  I was thinking of getting that.  I think it comes out to $16 per thousand.  I will give them a call this week.
