[ARCHIVED THREAD] - :) (pics) (Page 1 of 2)
I know... but if i put it on, it will pull me out of stock class, I'll get it when I get the jackson racing kit My Del Sol was rocking sauce out there and i beat more than a couple Miatas. Silly RWD guys dont know how slow they are on the courses apparently.... |
![]() ETA: I drive a FWD car.
|
Smaller courses will favor the smaller, better handling cars. I think my car would be just about the perfect balance... Remember, straight tracks are for fast cars. Twisty tracks are for fast drivers. |
Those would get stomped on even by neons in the Auto-X. GTFO |
|
We had out local autox today too, wish I had some pics of my car running. I have a buddy that videoed it but I haven't seen the footage yet. My car will eat that Mustangs lunch in ANYTHING but top speed, at 125 it feels like my car is gonna flip over backwards. ![]() Pic of the car, ![]() Any why the mustang owner should go sulk in a corner because his car is slow,

nice 2002! |
I'd love to see the video! I bet that car would hand Mustang, Camaro and 'Vette owners their asses on small AX courses! I need to find some around here. There's one group that has one soon, but I think it's on a Sunday, and I work Sundays. |

ok I guess Ill bite.. WTF is 'autox' after looking at the pics in the OP, it appears to me that 'autox' is some kind of hip way of saying 'ricers driving around a parking lot' So is this just some way for folks with ridiculously slow imports to have a motorsport of their own that they wont suck so badly at?
|
You should find out where your local one is held and go check it out. I'd like to see ya call that big dude that had the tube frame 64 vette with about 800hp today a ricer or the guy with the original GT350 Shelby Mustang. There was a more Euro and American today than there was rice. |
Plenty of 'Vettes, Camaros, Jags, Beamers, etc, that Auto-X. Definitely not a "ricer" sport. Smaller (read, lighter) cars usually do better as cornering ability is usually more important than horsepower. |
The problem with your argument is the other 6 days a week you have to drive a Delsol, Miata, and a Neon...
|
+1 anytime you have to compare you cars performance against a miata, it's time to rethink your driving experience. ETA: for the record, i have a wrangler yj... we dont have to go AROUND the cones. |
The Miata is supposed to be one of the best handling cars on the road, period. What do you use as a reference for handling performance? Your Jeep? hock.gif |
Autocross has been around decades before the term "ricer" The last guy that tried to eat this rice got a serving of crow followed by humble pie for dessert..he washed it all down with a cup of STFU
|
Yep. I haven't been to one, but when I do, I'll try to report on what I see. Smaller, lighter, more maneuverable cars are better for AutoCross, because usually the tracks are smaller. From what I hear, mostly, you won't go faster than about 50-60mph. First and second gears get used the most. Having an assload of power doesn't help when you have to turn AGAIN in 50 feet! I saw pictures from another guy's AX day... it was MOSTLY Boxsters and 911s. I've also heard of a guy that had a Subaru Impreza Wagon that PWND muscle cars in AX! |
Your not thinking about a Jackson Racking super charger are you? On top of the Sway Bars and such get some custom rate ground controls and koni yellows |
oh god no. I didnt buy the jeep because it was quick around turns... i bought it for when i run out of pavement and im not done driving yet. But id rather PUSH my jeep through an auto-x course before id drive the miata. if you really want to play, ill run my jeep on your course, and you can bring your car on mine. |
| There is a big one here sunday for corvette owners. Last year the original Hennessy Viper showed up(twin turbo 1400hp or some shit like that) He hauled ass in the 1/4 but was all over on the autox . I have pics if anybody would like to see them. Ill make sure to take more this weekend too |
