I’ve watched the dub for Haganai multiple times and I’ve seen select scenes of the sub, but now I’m watching the sub in its entirety for the first time and I have to say the dub is, IMO, funnier across the board. Even the no-name background characters. For example, there is a scene where two nameless girls are walking out of the classroom. Sub Girl 1: “Where do you want to go shopping?” Girl 2: “I don’t know.” Dub Girl 1: “What do you want to do today?” Girl 2: “The same thing we do everyday. Try to take over the world!” Both: *laugh* Attached File |

Well, apparently I'm an animation snob. Latest episode of Chainsmoker Cat the animation quality dropped like 50%, looks like dogshit (  ).It was so bad I stopped watching it, it was so painful. (I came back later and finished it, but if it remains like this...I'm probably out). |

In Tenkosaki (Boy was I wrong about her) the two MCs are childhood friends from a tiny farming village who did classic outdoor kid stuff all the time. And now we're told that one of them can't do a thing, one that I thought the backstory had the two of them doing together as little kids? Click To View Spoiler |

Jump in, splash, put feet on the riverbed, walk to the shore. When I was a kid, we called them creeks. ETA: As I recall, that kid also wasn't there for very long. They showed up, spent some time there while living with grandparents, didn't attend school, then moved away, so they didn't spend time learning various things that a kid who grew up there completely would have learned (helping out with the fields and other chores). |

I thought the backstory was it started as very little (3-4 years old), and finished 7 years ago, and now they're 15-16 year old 10th graders (HS freshmen). And Saki really confuses me. There were only two boys a year older than her and none her age, one of whom loved her dance performances and complemented her on them, the other one left before puberty. She has had feelings for the remaining one since about first grade when she got butterflies in her stomach when he cheered for her dancing. His sister is her classmate and best friend, and not even his sister suspects Saki has a crush on him, everybody thinks she dislikes him? That's Japanese fiction level of hiding her feelings. With a side order of never talking about boys with her best friend, which would make her not remotely female. Attached File |

Claymore had a similar, but different, issue. Phenomenal world-building, good animation throughout, they just realized "shit, we have an arc that could be an entire season's worth of material we need to cram in to three episodes" vs "we have the pacing for the story and episodes planned perfectly, but damn if we didn't blow our entire animation budget in the first half of the season". It's like all they could do was divert funds from the snack cabinet to the animators. |

Just got back from the screening. Some of the footage looks amazing. Some of it looks pretty much the same so I’m not sure the 4K restoration is worth going to see in the theater. My daughter was shocked by some of the scenes, the violence, and the ending just blew her mind. She still hasn’t spent much time talking about it but I’m interested to see what her thoughts are once she reflects on it a bit. Ghost in the Shell restoration is going to be released on the 18th so we may have to see that as well. However, we could just watch it in our media room. |

Just watched Mushoku Tensei's episode 13 "The Diary". Holy fuckballs, that episode was probably the most brutal 30m of anime I've ever watched. Gawdamn. |
