After browsing the shipping questions, nobody had directly addressed the subject of shipping a weapon disassembled. If I ship the slide and frame seperately, can I do so leagaly- state to state? Using USPS or Private Company (UPS/FEDEX etc.) I know uppers and such dont have SN so lowers are only regulated, but like on a glock where it is stampped everywhere, what applies? From an earlier post, ATF FAQ says : (B9) May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity? [Back] Yes. A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm. Is this addressing USPS or Private? Thanks for the help. I am not a FFL nor have I slept at a Holiday Inn Express. I believe the frame is the regulated part of a handgun. So I believe this is what will require FFL involvement or overnight/next day shipping by one of the private carriers. Slides for a handgun I would think is considered parts and can be shipped by anyone by any means. |
