| Here's the story. I was dating a really sweet girl a few years ago. It was getting serious but then she was accepted to a college in Florida for her last year or two. I wasn't going to move to Florida, so we decided that our relationship was not meant to be. We split on good terms and have been close ever since. I'd hear from her by email once in a while just before she left, then nothing for a year while she was there. Suddenly I get an email saying "I'm back, let's get together like old times and catch up." Slight paraphrasing there but you get the point. I don't know why I didn't hear anything from her for so long. I'm going to see her this weekend and I have no idea what to expect. Any of you been in a situation like this? What happened? I just really hope she doesn't come back with a surprise that calls me daddy. MJD |

My best guess as a woman is that she either really concentrated on her school or she met someone while she was there. Perhaps she stayed away to give you the chance to move on. But it sounds like she really missed you despite whatever happened during the past year. And, if you are interested in picking up where you left off, it sounds like you've been invited to do just that. And remember, it takes two to communicate. All the time, every time. Two. Camberlyn |

She could be back to say hello lets do it and see you later. On the other hand she could be a sensible woman and she likes what you had and wants it back, either way it's good for you! |

At the very least you two get together, have a few laughs and a good evening. At the most you two get together, get married and have many kids, remain hopelessly in love with each other and her name is the last thing you ever say on your deathbed. If all she wants is a male chicken, Tractor Supply can get you a good deal on one.Although you may not want to put a condom over it's head, it would probably suffocate it. |

And yet, BOTH can be true AT THE SAME TIME! |

Thanks everybody, I really appreciate your information and "no holds barred" opinions. I'm sure she had some boyfriends in Florida, she never liked to be alone. It doesn't bother me, I had some girlfriends up here |

I'd say go see her. Don't get your hopes up, and don't go into it with any expectations. See how it goes hanging out with her once or twice. I'd try to find out what her intentions are, or what she's open for. You both broke it off on good terms, so starting it back up wouldn't be a bad thing. Go for it, and report back with an AAR. |
Update for all you wonderful people. Both ARE true! Here's the whole story. The reason she's back from Florida is because she flunked out of school. Her family is pissed about that, most of her other friends are off to college at far away places, she's got no job prospects and with her GPA, probably can't get back into any reputable school. Sounds like a real winner so far doesn't it? I made a promise a long time ago that I would be there no matter what troubles she faced. She remembered that and came to me. Wasn't looking for a handout, wasn't looking for a free ride, just a shoulder to cry on. She made a mess of her life and doesn't know how to get it back together. Plus, after talking with her for quite a while it's painfully clear she either hasn't had a boyfriend for a while, or he didn't do his job. In any case, it'll be fun for a while. MJD |
If this is the case I would double wrap & use the good old "Pull & Pray" Don't let her get an 18 year ride........ |

To OP, well now you know. Get her to start taking some comm. college classes. NOW. It's tough to get back into school after a long hiatus. It will be great for her, and can be great for you. Also, it's nice to have someone who needs you, but make sure you teach her to be independent. Does not sound like her parents did that. TXL |
In my experience this is VERY good advice. Less history, more mystery. You do not want too much info unless you want this to be a disaster. Just take the proper precautions. You know what I mean. |
