Within the next few weeks I am buying a milling machine.

I've narrowed it down to only a few now, but i have one last hurdle to get passed. And that pertains to the motor and electrical specs.

Looking at the catalog it reads: 2 HP, 110v\220v, single phase TEFC capacitor start induction.

What does that mean?
Is there a posibility that the outlet will be different from the normal houshold 110v plug?

I've written to the company but they haven't gotten back to me with a reponse.

The motor is dual voltage meaning it will run on 110V or 220V. You will get much better performance if you run it on 220V.

It will run on both, but cheaper on 220. There will be wires to swap [probably] to determine voltage.Check what amps it takes on both 110 and 220.

TEFC = totally enclosed, fan cooled

capacitor start = no start/run switch (very common in small motors)

induction = no brushes

Go with 220. Worst case you might have to replace the plug or get different outlet, no big deal.
