Hard to get a sense of scale from that shot.  Looks like some kind of roach to me.

Looks a lot like a South American Warner Beetle, they've been known to kill people, very very dangerous!

Is it really as bronze as the photos make it look?  Other than that it does look like a wood roach but I've never heard of any roach biting someone.

Metallic woodborer beetle

Wasn't that a movie on the Sci Fi channel?

No but for real, it's hard to get an idea from the photo.

Have you tried a reverse look up on the net, look at a list of insects that are common where you live and see if it's on the list. Or do you think it's some alien non-native insect, like the Asian long horn beetle.

Definitely a brain bug. Look at that cruel, calculating stare.

PsyOps is going to have a field day with this baby.

Thats the Trojan Beetle.  Theres miniature combatants holed up inside waiting for you to bring the vessel into your domicile.  When you sleep they will spring out and attack.

Shitty photos get you shitty answers.

See if it matches the description for Coleoptera: Elateidae

Here's a Wiki, the pic shown resembles the ones common in FL.
