| There should be no such thing as zero tolerance. Zero tolerance is a crutch of the cowardly that brings us such gems as finger pointing at recess constituting terroristic threats. "I'm sorry, but there's a zero tolerance policy, there's nothing I can do." Either make a decision and stand by it, or don't. Zero tolerance makes a farce of the judicial system, takes discretionary decision-making away from the people who are most familiar with the situation and places it in the hands of some third party administrator. |
