Nice.    Man I hate that majcom, stay the hell out of AMC (and PACAF) or you will find out what "real" majcoms suck the most ass.  Stay with ACC and USAFE and it's all good.  I know your majcom generally hinges on your aircraft, which hinges on your performance, so get to studying, wannabe fighter guy.

That reminded me about the "Shepard shlongs" (the red flashlights that resemble a giant....)
Thanks NT

They merged with Air University during the big reorg in the early 90's.

TAC - 3.5 years
AETC - 6 months
ACC (SAC had just been deactivated) - 2 years
AFSOC - 3 years
AMC - 3.5 years
HQAMC/USAF - 5 years
AFSPC - 10 months and still going

Of all the commands I have been in I liked AMC the most. At the time, the unit I was in had really good funding and got us pretty much anything we wanted/needed to fulfill our mission.

When ATC changed it's name to AETC, the general came around to sell the new name.
When asked - why the distinction between education and training?

He responded "Education and training are 2 completely different things. Sex education isn't the same as sex training, now is it?"

My 3 years in AETC was a nice break from the real Air Force.

My 5yrs 2mos in the USAF, outside of ATC; I never spent any time in the "Real Air Force," or so I was told at every base and TDY I was on.

The Real Air Force doesn't exist.  It is a myth perpetuated to make those in uniform think that no other unit is as fucked up or as miserable as the one you are currently supporting.

I had a Navy Chief tell me, after many drinks, that the best assignments you will ever have in the military is the one you came from and the one you're going to, never the one you currently have.  Ain't that the truth.

I see the wisdom there, but I'm having a damn good time at the momment doing the pilot training thing!
