what are you looking to clean? Copper residue? Carbon?

"Best" is relative. Everyone has their own preference on methods, chemicals, tools, etc.

I use Butch's Bore Shine or Hoppes #9 Benchrest. Use a cotton mop to apply cleaner, brush, patch, lather-rinse-repeat.
