It's time for my weekly metal thread. Anyone picked up Kiss of Death yet, their latest CD? Mötorhead is still as fucking awesome as they were when Overkill came out. SPEAK OUT FANS |
I really like this song of theirs. ![]() www.youtube.com/watch?v=os6nfpg02EM |
Big mistake around here. Most the guys either like has-beens from the 60's and 70's or are closet Gnu-metal/Emo kids. Funny how guys like Lemmy or Iggy Pop never get their due. I figure Motorhead would be blasting on every classic rock radio station across the land if they would recognize that having a hit single 'back in the day' doesn't necessarily indicate quality musicianship. Luckily they have a wide enough audience in Europe to keep 'em going and touring. |

For all the naysayers: In The Name of Tragedy Motorhead is like the Ramones (RIP) in that they spit out record after record full of what should be hit singles but no one is listening. |
That's the only Motorhead song I can tolerate. |
WHAT DID YOU SAY?! You aren't kidding, I saw them in Phoenix a couple of years ago and they were the loudest band I have ever heard. It was even an outdoor show, I think my head would explode if I heard them live indoors. |
At least he got his teeth fixed. Now it's time to work on those moles. AB |
WHAT MOLES |

July 1981 it was, and Ozzy Ozbourne was touring in support of the "Blizzard of Ozz" album. "Crazy Train" was burnin' up the charts, and guitarist Randy Rhoads was already achieving cult like status among heavy guitar officionados ............... The back up band was some outfit out of England called "Motorhead", they had this tune "Ace of Spades" which was pretty cool, but we heard they were longhairs who played Punk Rock. Longhairs didn't play Punk Rock in 1981. But that night, the world freakin' ended .................... The volume was beyond the threshold of pain. The bass player, some geezer with warts on his face and teeth right out of the "Big Book of English Smiles" hammered his base like a rythm guitar. They played ... fast . Not quick tempo, upbeat - but crazy fast hammerblow rock n' roll. We'd never seen or heard anything like them, and the crowd was frightened - confused. Mortal terror had struck. Punk may have lit the fuse, but Motorhead dropped the bomb which wiped out every past it 70's blues based hard rock act and dirge metal outfit then representin' the metal flag. Then apparently, they went back to England where Ozzy backed them up at some huge outdoor festival. They were that big in their home country. The rest is history. Sometimes I wish - for Lemmy's sake - they'd made it bigger in America. But their catalog of albums speaks for itself. Crazy, dangerous heavy metal rock n' roll. |

....pretty good.
