Well, missouri is getting it's first cabellas this week. Anyone know what kind of weapons they carry? Im tired of the bass pro shops no assault rifle policy and desperatly want a large retailer to come to town. basically, what kind of guns are at cabelas retail stores? |
Where is this new Cabellas going to be? Nevermind,
|
| Yes, the one in Kansas has quite the range of choice in both handguns and long guns. the gun Library is a fun place to hang out too. It has been better than the 2 Bass Pro's I've been too, if a bit price-ier. They do buy guns too. They don't really do trad-ins. You sell them your gun, they give you cash, check, or store credit. |
The gun library is pretty cool. There's usually some interesting stuff in there. As far as used guns and trade-ins, while they seem to be pricey on used guns, they give a lot better price for your used guns than other places around as well. Had a friend who sold some guns there and got a good price for them from Cabelas. |

The one south of Austin has a pretty good selection of everything except ebrs. They only have 6 -12 at a time, including the used racks. Probably 1-2% of their rifles/shotguns. Their prices seem a bit on the high side for most things. If you want to shop there, get the credit card and they'll send you coupons a few times a year for $30 off of a $100 purchase or something similar. If you use them on sale items, you can get some pretty good deals. |

Cabelas will be adding a lot of AR15 accessories to their inventory this year. Parts rails, optics etc... Seems they have noticed the increase in AR related products and are jumping on the bandwagon. As mentioned above though, their prices on this stuff are generally pretty high. FB |
| Cabelas is the place where you go to look at the guns you are thinking of buying. Then you go online and get a good deal. They usually have a good selection of guns, but they price them really high for my tastes. Ammo prices on the other hand are sometimes good. |
Hell no. Rifle and shotgun isn't horrible, pistol ammo is. Good gun selection and they're not marked up really high, just kinda high. The FTW one always has a couple of ARs, Surplus guns, good selection of used rifles and shotguns. The used rifle and shotgun sections are the best place to look, they always have cool stuff and decent prices. |
The Cabela's in Hamburg, PA has lots of old Milsurps in the used racks and new guns of all types, including AR's. They trade up here, I traded a pre 64 Win 70 Supergrade even up for a mint SP1 last year. The worst part of the transaction was the gestapo greeters at the door whisking you away when you enter with a gun case. They really need to work on that. The used prices were standard; I wouldn't have a clue about the new because I like old guns and young women! And they have a lot of those working there as well! |

Things are a little high there at times but hell after I pay shipping and tax from a lot of other vendors it's not that much more to buy it there and there is the instant gratification angle too. They are high on guns but again, they have them there. I don't have to wait a few week or months to get it. I have seen lots of military pattern rifles on the shelves at different times: AR's FN FAL PTR 91's SKS AK K31 Mauser M1 M1A I love the place. It's great to just run and get reloading supplies, ammo, scopes, and gun parts, backpacks, outdoor clothing all in one trip. |

Their stores in Owatonna & Rogers, MN carry about 10 - 12 Bushmasters at any one time. The Owatonna store carried the Beowulf 50 for a while after it first came out, but I never see them at either store any more. Most of the clerks don't even know what I'm talking about when I ask for them. Ammo prices are pretty high, but not much worse than most other places. Sometimes you can get a bargain if you watch their flyers. Watch for the ammo packed in the plastic ammo cans. They usually advertise that the ammo can is free & it seems like they are usually right when you compare the cost of the ammo alone against other places. I got an XD45 for about $372 in December. It was marked at $429 + tax which would bring it to $457 with the 6.5% MN sales tax. I signed up for their Club/Visa card & put a couple of coupons towards it to bring it down. The cheapest that I've seen an XD45 since then has been $499 + tax, or about $531 total. Check out the Bargain Cave every time that you go in. Some of the stuff is junk, but you can find some good bargains sometimes. (Watch for Carhartt closouts.) If you have kids, take them over to see it. The dioramas are worth the trip. |
