Well I broke in my new rifle today and I'm still friggin excited about it.  Damn, this rifle is amazingly accurate!  I have a two week old BM XM15-E2S w/a 16" barrel w/the A1 sights.  I hit the range about 9 am and was disappointed to find a 15-20+mph cross wind blowing right to left.  I was already there with an assload of ammo so I decided to start shooting and let the chips fall.

I started out on the 25 yrd range and my first couple of shots were hitting high and to the left.  I realized that I wasn't aligning the sights properly, causing me to shoot high. Then, I made few windage adjustments and scored a bullseye group.

img242.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn1119tk8.jpg

Still on the 25 yrd range, I switched targets, knocked 10 more holes in the bullseye, and chased my target across the range when it blew off the stand.

img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn1123sr8.jpg

Being satisfied with the 25 yrd results, I moved to the 100 yard range.  At this distance I noticed that the rounds were impacting high and it was obvious that the wind was having a greater effect.  There were 4 other people with BM's and they were shooting high at 100 yards too.  I was still hitting a square foot of paper at 100 yards and I figured that was good enough for me.  Finally the wind started to lay down and I aimed slightly lower on the target and hammered out 6 more bullseyes.

img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn1131il0.jpg

There were a couple of marines from the base in Pensacola next to me and they were getting pissed that a civilian was out shooting them (No disrespect).  We were looking at out targets and the dude says, hey why don't you try that out on the "big boy" range. So, we picked up our stuff and set up on the 200 yard range.  Now I'm shooting iron sights the whole time so I'm not expecting much since the 12"x12' target looks like a flea.  I loaded 20 rounds in the clip and started pulling the trigger.  I'll say that it was very difficult to concentrate on a target at that distance and the heat mirage coming off the ground didn't help either. To my surprise, I hit the target 12 out of 20 times including 2 bulleyes. I couldn't believe it.

img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn1133ov1.jpg

I have been shooting all my life but I have never fired a weapon with iron sights at those distances before.  I am amazed at the accuracy of this rifle and I'm pissed that it took me this long to get one.

Below is a link to a pic of my friend's target on the 200 yrd range. He was shooting Saiga AK-47 with iron sights.

Ok you're new here so I'll do ya a favor. "Clip" refers to a stripper clip, which is used to load a magazine. It may also refer to the en-bloc clip of the Garand rifle. Your rifle takes a magazine. Please remember this in the future to save yourself a shitstorm from the multitudes of smartasses here!

Try shooting at 600 yards with open sights.
A hi power match is shot at 2, 3, and 6 hundred yards.
No scopes, just open irons.

Of course, the targets are bigger than your standard 100 yard target.

Unless you find a woman, gain carnal knowledge of her and post photographic evidence of such knowledge during the course of aquiring such knowledge your feeble attempt at a range report will be forgotton forever.

Some threads are immortal.....the original "Range Report" will be remembered always.

Back in the day, IIRC, the term clip was used for magazines. And, for that matter, Colt referred to his revolvers as pistols. This type of snobishness might be excessive.

To my knowledge, at no point in firearm history has a magazine been referred to as a clip.  In the technical sense of the word.

Lock31,

Welcome to ARFCOM. This type of "thread hi-jacking" is perfectly normal here. You've done nothing that A L O T of people here haven't done in the past. (clips)

It's a good range report. Please stick around and get to know the place. This is by far the best part of the interweb..
