Anybody use or recommend one?  I am getting tired of losing to them!  I collect old military dressings/bandages and it seems the snipers are getting more common.
Guess ya gotta fight fire with fire.

Why not just put in your max bid and let it go from there?

Bah!  Your logic has no place here!

Yes.

Bid what you're willing to pay for the item instead of playing silly games.

The only way a sniper can "steal" an auction is to be willing to pay more than you are.  And if he's willing to pay more, who cares if he "snipes", or if he just outright places his bid?  He's paying more than you've decided the item is worth.

Why snipe? Because it's the way things are done on Ebay...

People who 'bid their max bid' outright just drive up prices...

IF you're a seller, you may like that

But for majority-buyers, it's a PITA....

idiots that snipe should be publicly flogged.

that have no honor.

Idiots that either shill, or inflate prices by not sniping should be publicly flogged...

They are screwing up a perfectly good buyer's market....

Do yourself a favor and check out just snipe. It runs entirely on their servers. It's free as long as you do under 5 snipes per week. I've used it for a few years. It's never failed to place a bid on my behalf (5 seconds before the auctions ends, ha).

People that bid things up early just run up prices. As a buyer I say, everyone should place their high bid at the last minute. Everything would cost us buyers less.

What does honor have to do with buying stuff on ebay? More power to them if they can get stuff cheap.

I decide how badly I want something, place my maxbid accordingly and let the auction run it's course. If I win I win, If I lose....oh well.

I have used Auction Sniper several times. They only charge 1% and only if you win.

I agree, sniping is the only way to play. I don't think it is unfair either. It's all about the maximum your willing to spend. By entering your bid at the last few seconds you decrease the chances of someone seeing the highest current bid and over bidding you. The only way you could be outbid by a sniper is to have a lower max than he does. If you have a lower max, you would have lost no matter when the other guy submitted his bid. It keeps your max bid honest.

Sometimes I just put in a huge max bid to demoralize my opponents. It's dangerous, but I live dangerously.
