I just saw commercial for "Bat Out of Hell III (The Loaf Goes Rancid) and thought to my self how bad this guy sucks.

He has however made a career out of his one hit.

Jimmy Buffet made a career out of one hit. Hell, he has restaurants and a book series. He has made so much money, Kenny Chesney is making a career out of that song.

That being said, Bat out of Hell is one of my favorite rock albums of all time. I really haven't listened to the other two albums.

I got free concert tickets about twelve years ago to see him perform in Irvine, CA.  The only part of the concert that I liked was the opening band; Cheap Trick.

Dude...lighten up.  Meat has been around for more than three decades.  He's had some great hits and some stinkers...just like any other artist.  I happen to really like "Paradise"...it takes me WAY back to my misbegotton and LUCKY "yute" when I was knocking the bottom out of my girl in the back seat of my Mustang GT-350...with NO protection...and got away with it.

Read up on his bio and you might get an appreciation for why he's still around.
Meat Loaf

And here is a bit of Old Meat and a hottie in action.

Meatloaf the singer sucks ass; and no amount of ketchup can change that.

His early hits, written by Steinman, are some of my favorite songs.

Stuff like "For Crying out Loud" and "Read 'Em and Weep" are great songs, and "Bat out of Hell" is obviously an awesome song.  "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" is a classic, and the later "I'd Do Anything for Love" is also a spankin' song, to my ears. I also like stuff like "Modern Girl"

Ultimately, I really like a lot of Steinman's songs - but nobody performs them better than Meatloaf in my opinion.  But stuff like "Making Love out of Nothing at All" by Air Supply, the two main songs from the Streets of Fire soundtrack ("Nowhere Fast" and "Tonight is What it Means to be Young"), and "Total Eclipse of the Heart" are also really good performances of Steinman's work.

Jimmy Buffet hardly made a career out of one hit... he has been one of the top touring acts for 20+ years. Jimmy Buffet made a career by putting on a fun show people want to go and see… again and again and again ect…

I went to lunch at a local cafe and got a slab of meatloaf that wasn't cooked all the way through, that sucked pretty badly.

Meatloaf the singer?  Don't really care for him.

"Bat Out Of Hell" was the anthem of the horny masses.

An entire album of teen sex and hormonal overload!

"Bat out of hell"

was such a phenominally popular album that kids used to actually bring it to school and walk around with it.

Bat Out of Hell, released in 1977 and produced by Todd Rundgren, is the third best-selling album of all time, with 30 million copies sold worldwide, featuring such Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman standards as "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth" and the show-stopping "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights."

The Steinman-produced Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, which came out in 1993, has sold more than 15 million.

But yes, of course, he sucks.

PS -

A meatloaf sandwich on white bread with ketchup is a truely exceelnt sandwich of the first order.

I enjoyed the first and second album. Bought the third the day it was released and was not overly impressed.

Does he suck? I don't think so, but to each his own.
