[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Fudds? WTF? (Page 1 of 3)

WTF?  More division among shooters.

So, you're either a fudd or what?  A wannabe, uber-tactical shooter?  A paper puncher?  A gun geek?

We can't even be united when we have a common enemy.

Everybody is elite.  The clay shooters don't get dirty or bloody.  The big-game hunters don't need a semi-auto to "spray and pray".  The non-fudd, semi-auto battle rifle owners can't stomach the thought of killing something cute and furry.

So, each group of gun owners is better than the next and through our division we give the brady bunch, (who is very organized with one commone goal), more opportunity to chip away at the 2nd Amendment.

Which one of those was the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution referring to? Clay pigeon shooters? Big game hunters? Semi auto battle rifle owners??

I hunt, shoot trap & skeet, and have a love for EBRs. Just because I love to hunt with a glossy blued 870 or 11-87 with walnut furniture does not make me a Fudd. Just because I shoot trap & skeet doesn't make me an elitist snob. Just because I like EBRs does not mean I have to hate hunting and clay games.

I have actually been ridiculed for buying an 11-87 Premier instead of an AR-15 upper.

that would be great, and it could go a long way towards getting our rights back,

i think that the problem that some have with the FUDs is how they view everything they dont use to hunt with.

for example,
Fud comes accross an AR or something of the nature at the range
Assualt rifles are bad, need to be banned, ect...

tacticool dude
coming accross a bolt gun or shotgun shooting fud
cool bolt gun, i would like to build one some day, or that shotgun could make a great home defense weapon

from the small segment of shooters that i have shoot with over the past few years,  the tacticools love all weapons while the fuds only like what they have and see no use for somthing they dont like,

i dont think anybody could of demonstrated this beter then Zumbo, he could be a great guy, but a substantial portion of our community IS willling to sell us out as long as they can keep on hunting.

The Fudds are the one's that are always looking to sell us out if it buys them a temporary reprieve. What you are seeing is, "I can't believe these bastards are trying to fuck us AGAIN!!!" It is not that EBR owners hate Fudds. We're being attacked from within. You're preaching to the choir.

Hunting, firearm competitions and firearm games are not Constitutionally protected. They are privileges. Defense of one's self and others is a natural Right, established by our Creator, and merely recognized by the Constitution.

Frankly, I'm tired of hearing about Fudds and their antics.  So what.

If you want to watch a bunch of EBR and SUR shooters blast away at dirt clods at close range this weekend, send me an IM, I'll tell you where they will be shooting.

Every single shooter I know owns plain 'ol wood and steel shootin' irons, and they hunt and get up to their elbows in ducks and deer.  One group of them are the best sporting clays shooters in this state, and several of those can shoot with the big boys on the national level.  Another group are NRA highpower shooters, rain or shine, banging away as long as the targets don't get blown out of the frames.  A few others shoot benchrest and travel west several times every year to blast prairie dogs.  And so on.

It's long past time for the broad brush generalizations to die.

We laugh and joke about the Democrats eating themselves from within in these early days of campaigning for the Congress and the White House.  Well, guess what, that's about a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black if there ever is one - shooters fighting amongst themselves, what a pitiful sight.

I personally like to do it all.  Tactical rifle shooting. 3-gun.  Trap.  Long range precision shooting.  Reloading my own ammo. Building my own rifles. (ARs) Only thing I've never done is hunting.  And the only reason I haven't hunted, is that I haven't had a chance to.  I need to go through the hunter safety class.  Then I need to find some buddies who I trust, to go hunting with.

I for one see no reason for shooters to be divided.  We all enjoy firearms and want to keep our firearms.  Letting ourselves become divided will make us weak as a community.  It is just plain common sense to support all other forms of shooting sports as a shooter.  I have no issues with any other shooting sport.  I do have issues with those shooters that look down their nose at other shooters thinking they are part of some elitist community.

No one here has said that they are more "elite"  or better.  Why most of us poke fun at the Fudds and sporting clay's shooters is because they think the Second Amendment only applies to "thurdy-thurdy's" and Italian double barrels.

Bullshit…

Have you ever seen an AR shooter butt in to someone business at the range about what types of firearms they should own and shoot? Have you… I think not.

But it is a frequent occurrence that one breed of these dumbasses takes it on themselves to lecture a legal gun owner on what he or she should do or own. That is basically what started all this… as ignorant fool sanctimoniously lecturing other hunters on what kind of guns they should be ALLOWED to own.

Some of you guys really don't fucking get it do you. Zumbo defined exactly what a Fudd is. Someone who owns guns and uses them but doesn't really know anything else about guns beyond what they use and what they feel are useful guns and are willing to say that certain types of guns are no good or useless because they don't fit their idea of what a gun can or should be used for.

This is about people in our ranks, who say "I'm a gun owner" but don't really give two shits about gun rights. I don't care what you choose to shoot, but the second your willing to let them ban or advocate a ban of any type of gun because they are not the guns you like or use, or think are scary or there is no use for etc., your a fucking Fudd and a worthless piece of shit IMHO. Thats what a Fucking fudd is.

The second amendment IS NOT about hunting, or sporting use, it's about being able to defend that which we hold dear.

If you take offense at the term Fudd, than maybe you need to do some serious fucking thinking about shit because folks like that are no friend to the second amendment or to gun owners in general and we are better off without them.

Thank you for pointing out the truth in all the bullshit that's been flying.

The dividing line is this for me:  I support ALL FORMS of firearms and the people that own them WHETHER I HAPPEN TO OWN THAT PARTICULAR FIREARM OR PARTICIPATE IN THAT PARTICULAR SPORT!!!!!

That's the difference between us.  "They" don't seem to have the slightest problem in singling out why we should be thrown to the wolves while their choice of firearm or sport is sancrosant.  You don't hear many EBR types asking "Whacha *need* that there type of gun for?"  or giving funny looks to the guy with $10,000 shotgun or the exotic caliber bolt rifle.  Most of us would think "Cool!"  You DO hear and see that type of response from THEM when you pull out your 870 at the skeet club or your AR or FAL at the firing line.

God forbid that you mention the idea of using one of their "sporting implements" in defense of your life, or your country.  They're NOT about The Second Amendment, they're about their SPORT first and simply don't see the connection between their SPORTING IMPLEMENT and the use of firearms for something greater, for freedom.

Now I know that many of us here actually "get both"  Sportsmen who truly understand what it's REALLY all about.  You are NOT "Fudds" just because you like to hunt and have a nice wood stocked bolt rifle.  You're a Fudd if you can't embrace (or at least stay neutral) on other types of firearms and the people that own them.

As someone once pointed out "The Second Amendment is NOT about duck hunting".  You do NOT have a Constitutional Right to own arms for hunting, you DO have a Constitutional Right to own arms in defense of yourself and the nation.  THIS is what has been twisted over the last few decades and way too many people actually believe the bullshit.

Yes it is the "Fudds" that are creating problems. Yeah you might get a couple idiots here thinking they are elite compared to everyone else, but you still won't see them saying we should ban bolt guns or do away with traditional hunting firearms. You will on the other hand see fudds butting into other shooters business about how evil EBRs are and that we have no business owning them.

And just to clarify a fudd is not simply someone who only hunts and owns traditional guns. It is generally the older group of people that bring their bolt gun to the range once every season to shoot 5 rounds and bother other shooters as I described above.

No, they get on here and run their mouths about showing up someone in a round of skeet with their 20 inch Mossberg, or shooting the lights out of a 6 inch bull at 50 yards with their plane jane AR and surplus ammo while the shooter next door can barely get a bullet out of the bore of his gun.

Being a Fudd or a Tacticool person isn't about what gun you use, it's about your frame of mind.  There are plenty of people that shoot bolt action rifles, but have no problem with AR users and vice versa.  These guys aren't the Fudds or the Tacticools.  Zumbo is classic example of a Fudd, someone who wouldn't dare touch an AR because he holds contempt for it.  There are Tacticool guys out there that have the same contempt for those that wish to hunt.

Don't clump every bolt action rifle owner into the Fudd category.  Don't clump every AR owner into the Tacticool category.

As AR owners we're never going to win the hearts and minds of every Fudd, and instead of trying to piss them off every chance we get we should be focusing on what's in the road ahead of us...the Dems and there gun control agenda.  If we start dividing now we make it just that much easier for them to win.

You are grossly mistaken. There is no comparison at all between denigrating a fellow shooter's (or a group of shooters') skill and advocating or acquiescing in the banning and seizure of their weapons. Give us ONE example of an EBR guy saying, publicly or privately, "Why the hell would anybody want a Remington 700 or a Beretta Onyx?  If the government wants to ban them, it's OK by me! They're good for nothing but killing Bambi or Jonathan Livingston Seagull!"

Fudds, frequently, are happy to throw us under the bus. I have never heard of a BRD sufferer even passively applauding the disarmament of Fudds. Differences of opinion or puzzlement over another shooter's choice of arms is one thing; joining the Communists' demonization of a class of weapons or shooters is quite another. Fudds are frequently guilty of anti-EBR expressions. I have never heard of an EBR man criticizing the possession or use of Fudd guns.

I repeat, you are grossly mistaken.

A Fudd isn't another word for a hunter or a person who just likes "traditional" guns. I think it's funny that a certain vein of shooters is referred to as 'fudds'.  I've seen it.

"Don't noone need none o' dem fancy army type rifles, now"

Most are probably pretty harmless.  SOME wouldn't lift a finger to prevent certain firearms from being banned, because it won't affect them.

And why is it bad disliking those kind of guys?

Personally, I do and have enjoyed many types of shooting, from muzzleloaders and BPCR up to using my AR15 in 'Tactical Carbine' matches.  I've shot skeet and trap... I've used a lever action .30-30 to hunt...

I'm not dividing anyone by calling some joker who thinks it's OK to ban military style rifles, because they're not after his deer rifle.   THAT type of gun owner is hurting our cause more than anyone.
