Oddly enough, no children were eaten......Can't tell exactly what kind of dog it is (camera is shitty, but body type looks like an APBT mix or "pit bull type dog" (the neat made up name for any dog that's heavy in body and with a large head).. Anyone speak spanish that can translate? link to vid |
| "Bulldogs" and Pit bulls are two extremely different breeds. Bulldogs are giant babies and it would be very out of character to be mean, pits on the other hand are commonly viscious. Bulldogs get a bad rap for the reputation of pits. Bulldogs are actually one of the best breeds for families with kids. |
eh? I hope this was sacasm. and that I missed it. |
Um, there are several different "bull" dog breeds. www.akc.org/breeds/bulldog/index.cfm www.akc.org/breeds/bull_terrier/index.cfm www.akc.org/breeds/american_staffordshire_terrier/index.cfm www.akc.org/breeds/bullmastiff/index.cfm The "staffordshire terrier" is the "pit bull." Bull dogs ARE sweet, and not likely to be vicious. |
I guess Petey was a vicous killer then. |
|
I got a good look at the dog during the fight. at one point he backs off and you get a good side view of the dogs head. its egg shaped. thats a Bull terrier and not a pitt bull terrier. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Terrier that dog jumped in and did EXACTLY what he was bred to do. own 1200 lbs bulls. |
Ahem. "Pit bulls" are the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire bull terrier. The APBT is "the" pit bull. Some claim that APBTs and AmStaffs are the same breed, others say the APBTs are ~40-50 lbs. and the AmStaffs are up to 80-90 lbs. Staffie bulls are much smaller... 35 lbs. max for a male purebred. i fostered a femail Staffie bull mix... she weighed 43 lbs. and everyone thought she was a puppy, she was so small. All three tend to be dog-aggressive and submissive, if not loving and friendly, towards people. When they were being bred to fight in the pits, they were also bred to select against human aggression... the dog handlers did not want to get bitten themselves while fighting their dogs or treating their injuries afterwards. Bull dogs are not pit bulls, even though they share the same ancestry from hundreds of years back. |
The dog is a bull terrier. A better video is here You do not need to speak Spanish to understand everything |
Fuck. Here we go again. ![]() Thanks for clearing that up for us there sparky. It's just comforting to know that expert motherfuckers like you are around to shine the light of reason into the dark well of ignorance that all us unwashed rubes swim around in. THANKS AGAIN chief! |
| I'm sorry guys, I definately dont have anything against pitbulls, I was stating that they are the ones commonly associated with being mean, and that was still wrong of me. I stated that because people always see my english bulldogs and call them pitbulls and talk about how mean they are. I love all dogs and I didnt mean to sound like the douche bag that stereotypes dogs and I am very sorry. My favorite dogs are bully breeds including pits staffies and bull terriers. People mistake my bullies for pits and they are so not alike especially in looks. The very fact that I was associated with zumbo made me very ashamed of myself and I deserved it for the way I sounded. And yes the dog in the video was a bull terrier. Sorry for being a dick. |
Damn. I was hoping for a new Pit thread. No harm no foul. |
Agreed, bulldogs are great dogs and expensive |
Anyone who confuses an English bulldog with a pit bull is even stupider than the usual i-hate-pit-bulls idiots. |
| When it comes down to it, a dog is a dog is a dog. They are what you raise them to be. If you raise them with lots of attention and spend time with them then they will be sweet and lovable dogs no matter what breed it is. A freeking pomeranian is ten times meaner than any pit I have ever seen anyways. Maybee people should start running and screaming from foo-foo dogs. |
Trust me you're not missing anything. The narrator doesn't say anything that isn't already being said by the images. Inane comentary just like an English speaking newsperson. They made a point of saying that neither animal recieved life threatening injuries. The bull probably went on to a short career in the bullring where it was taunted and killed. ETA: Probably not as short as the run some of the screen names in this thread are going to get.

My neighbors have a bull terrier and a french bulldog, when they get together with my english bullies it is hilarious. That bull terrier is the sweetest dog you ever saw. It is a big female named Olly. |

A Bulldog isn't a Pitbull in terms of temperment and drive. Pitbulls are fine, but those who own them have to understand that Pitbulls have fallen victim to some horrible selective breeding for traits that if left uncontrolled through training can be dangerous. A Pitbull is not a family pet that I would recommend, but if you're a "DOG PERSON" with experience with dogs and who can take the time to bond with and TRAIN one they can be good companions and as safe as any large breed dog. All dogs even within a breed are unique individuals though so I'm making generalizations based on the standard. The problem with Pitbulls is that they don't always attract the right people and often they attract people who wish to bring out their negative traits to the extreme. An anti-social dog is not a good protection dog, but is a huge liability. You get these ghetto folks that take these dogs and train them to fight or encourage them to be anti-social to protect themselves. What you end up with is an attack and serious problem for everyone. To everyone who owns a Pitbull and has taken the time to train control into it and bond with it I salute you...you people are hardcore dog folks and salt of the earth who I hope will improve the breed. |
It was doing what is in its temperment to do. The ring of people the other animal it was in HIGH drive probably near the point where the dog was arroused. I kid you not. Each time the bull hit it just pushed it even higher into drive like a crack addict. I've seen the same thing when people try to hit at a police dog...which is a BIG mistake. |
