Got an old gun with a sewer pipe bore, I've ran tons of swabs through it with everything...CLP, Hoppe's, Mineral Spirits, Dexron, etc.... the patches started coming out "clean" but I could tell there is gunk still caked in there. Out of curiousity, I ran a patch with Goop hand cleaner (without pumice) through it and it came out filthy! Indicating that it took out a lot of crud that the other solvents didn't.
Seems to me like this Goop would make a good first pass cleaner. For really nasty stuff, I will sometimes scrub it in the sink with soap then immediately spray it down with CLP. Regular soap doesn't seem to be very effective against fouling or cosmoline though. I imagine this Goop stuff would work and it seems like a good idea? Oiling of course would always be done immediatelyafter any kind of degreasing or washing. Anybody ever use it to clean their guns?

No, but having read this I might give it a try.

If it has water in the ingredients, I wouldn't use it.

I use goop along with window cleaner on the bores of my C&R rifles after firing corrosive ammo. An old timer gave me the tip many years aso and I have never had a problem with rust.
