Here's the story... I've been trying to sell a video iPod that I received for Christmas. I've been trying this site, another board, and the Seattle Craigslist. I received a number of e-mails from someone who was interested in buying my iPod. I was looking for a FTF transaction and became suspicious when the person wouldn't answer my question about where in Seattle "she" was located. The buyer asked to pay with USPS Money Order and asked for my address. I was hesitant to give her my address, so I gave her my bank address. Then I get an e-mail saying that she made an online purchase of a Money Order and it will only be delivered to me if I confirmed the sale and that I would have to ship within 24hrs... So many red flags...first of all you can't buy USPS MO online. Then I get an e-mail that looks like your typical phishing e-mail...asking me to confirm the MO. The logos for the USPS and FBI are used. I sent "her" an e-mail saying that I had received the confirmation, but didn't have a mailing address for her and that I needed to ship tomorrow to avoid a week's delay, b/c I was travelling for work. So Question.... Who can I report this to? Will they do anything about it? or Do I do nothing...b/c this is what has become of the Internet and nobody will do anything? |
