| Well there are so many too choose from now on the market. Sure I'm sure there are a lot of crap pistols and I don't want to waste 400 bucks when I could add another 200 and get a good pistol. So what do you all think? I'm not talkin' bout some custom job, I'm just talkin' bout a good old combat pistol. No frills, no fancy, just point, bang, dead!!!! |
| Here's a little trick. Go to the gun show. Look on the used tables. You don't see any Kimbers do you? (you wont) How many Springfields? one? maybe? But Llamas' and the like are a dime a dozen Do you see where I'm going with this? When someone gets a good one they keep it! Its like a used Ruger Blackhawk,(almost non existent) If you want a good one,Find out what people AREN'T trading in, then go get yourself one. |

I was just curious if anyone has seen a Dan Wesson 1911 yet. I happen to live close to the factory so I feel this kind of obligation to consider their pistols but have never actually seen one. Believe it or not as close to the factory as I am there is not one dealer in the area that stocks them. I'm dying to know more about them but have only seen one write up (it was very good by the way). |

... I really like Para-Ordnance P14-45 I fits nicely in my hand, it's tuned to digest the funkiest ammo around and she's a tack driver to boot. I like 1911's because you can switch springs quickly (lighter) and shoot wimpy loads at steel IPSC plates all day without any punishment and cheaply. Then clean, replace your "duty" load spring and load with 16 + 1 in the pipe with Cor-Bon +P+ loads for carry. Very diverse. |
| hummm lets see here.1911 style..45 cal acp hummmi know how about the real deal Colt.the base gun is the 1991 stock no frills but has many enhanssments like larger ejection port,80 series saftys etc....5-600 hundred and you have a colt thats plenty tight and acurate out of the box.an if you want to customize it go for it. COLT. |

Quoted: I was just curious if anyone has seen a Dan Wesson 1911 yet I saw one at the Big E gun show in Springfield last year. They were claiming to be MA compliant so I was pretty psyched about them. Of course, they're still not available here. They looked pretty good, and had decent price tags on them. They have a good feel, but the true test is at the range. One of the "budget" models might be worth a try. |
