I just got a call from one of the payroll people at work. It seems that they made an error on the last two weeks of last year and over paid me by $1,172.80. I noticed that my deposits were bigger than normal, but I figured that this was just because I had surpassed the SS deduction cap. Our pay stubs are online and I and never look at them. The payroll person told me that they are going to be deducting the full amount that they overpaid me from my next paycheck which means that I'll be bringing home just under $200 this week.

So, for this month I've had to shell out $1,321 to fix crap around my house, my personal laptop is busted and now I have to pay my company back almost $1,200. And this doesn't even bring into account the fact that this error on my paychecks for the last two weeks of last year was just enough to put me into the next tax bracket (as if my real tax bracket wasn't high enough). Fortuantely I have a healthy savings account. All the same, I can't say that I'll be sad to see January go.
