| Do you throw out things when they hit their expiration date? Obviously perishables like milk, cheese, meats gotta go when they take one a new life of their own and greet you when you open the 'fridge. I'm asking about things like OTC medicines and first aid supplies that are unopened or sealed in foil packs. What about mouthwash, toothpaste or dried goods like sunflower seeds and popcorn? |

Cheese? Are you kidding? You pay extra for old cheese. OTC stuff, if it is a year or so out of date, I'll replace it. It clearly doesn't go bad the day after it "expires". Most will just loose potency slowly. I have no idea why they put an expiration date on gauze pads. |
Exp. date has passed it gone!!!! |

in most cases, expiration dates mean nothing to me. i've used old drugs and medical supplies. they worked fine. i've eaten old foods way past their expiration dates. canned goods and other non perishables are good long after they "expire". ETA: the only thing i've had any trouble with was some old bottled water. ozarka, IIRC. i got the runs after drinking it. i'm not sure what else could of caused it, but i'm pretty sure it was the old water. |
She was always throwing stuff out because it's expired.
