For those who have played the PC game Operation Flashpoint and loved it, this is the sequel-in-spirit. The U.S release is still TBA, but I am restless for this game.

It's supposedly more realistic than most (if not all) of the other hyper-realistic FPS games out there (like JointOps and Soldner), and Bohemia Interactive has a good reputation for making realistic video games.

Maybe we should start a clan once the U.S release comes.

The german version is out, and there's a english translation available for download.
Hunt around, and you can find both for free (legally).

Sorry, I don't have links.

Sorry about double-posting, but apparently all the European releases use StarForce as copy protection, which has a long history of notoriety.

Guess I'll just wait for the U.S release...

Are they not using it for the US release?

As much as a loved OFP if AA uses SF i might reconcider buying it.

The demo is out now though and it seems like a huge leap forward from OFP.(The heli's actually feel like heli's now...sorta).

The grenades sound amazing but the AK sounds suck(m4 isn't much better) and the ironsights in the game are HORRIBLE!  Im sure there will be a mod out soon enough to fix that though.

Couple of questions

1) Wouldn't every AK/AR-15 variant sound a bit different from each other?
2) What makes you think the sights are bad?

As for the StarForce issue, a lot of game companies that have been putting them in their games have removed them in the U.S releases. Examples include Ubisoft and JoWood. I'm not saying that BI will definitely remove StarForce in the U.S release, but I hope they will because I don't want that stuff affecting my optical drives and crapping up my computer.

Looks like i'm going to need a new computer for this game. I tried playing GRAW and it was slow as crap on my 3ghz + 6600GT.

I'm trying to run the downloaded demo, and I keep getting an error message stating:

ArmADemo.exe - Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because d3dx9_30.dll was not found.  Re-installing the applicaton may fix this problem.

Any ideas (besides re-installing)?

A little too "realistic" for me

I'll play BF2: Project Reality any day over that type of game.

Ban it! For the children.

Seriously though, OFP has more realistic missions that were (some are still) prohibited in USA only.

The demo was a pile of shit. Hopefully they patched it up. I feel bad for the countries that got it early.

Wait what???

I didn't check news about it for a while. Last time I checked it, they still had some modules prohibited (USA only, they were ok outside USA). People were saying that initially they were all LEO/HLS/mil only. Now it looks like they went back to prohibiting all modules, I don't want to read that BS, look here, if you care:

I thought Virtual Battlespace was a separate mod created by BI that catered to mil customers only.

I also heard that it was a POS.

Thanks.  How do I tell if my version is current?  I downloaded it from Microsoft but when I go to Properties on the DirectX folder, it doesn't tell me the version.
