I like most people here in this site am a working man. I pay my taxes and the government distributed my taxes as they see fit. In order for my to keep my job I had to pass a drug test, with the chance of having a random drug test at any time. I have no problem with this at all.

What I DO have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who dont have to pass a drug test. I have to pass one to earn my living. Why shouldnt they have to pass one before they pick up thier welfare check?

Please understand, I have nothing against helping people back in thier feet. Just imagine the money that could be saved by doing this. its simple, cost effective, and most of all would save us ALL money!

You know...

I had to undergo drug testing for my job, and know I'm in the "lottery" for them as well. It doesn't bother me, other then the hassle factor of having to drop everything, and get to the testing place when they decide its my "time" for random test.

If I have to be drug tested to work, it only seems fair that the people that suck up my tax dollars should have to be tested as well. (And they should be 'fired' from their "picking up free money" job if they fail.)

Good post. I agree 100%

Maybe, but I'm sure with .gov doing it, it will cost more to do the drug testing than to just cut them the check.

As long as the drug testing includes booze, cough syrup, gas fumes, cheap cigarattes and copious amounts of caffiene, fine I'm with ya.

If you're on the dole, you better be living clean.....I don't want to fund someone to get their drink on. No one helps me buy Miller Lite, god damnit.

I don't want to pay for the testing any more than I want to pay for them to lay around and eat Cheetos.  It's a good idea, but it would cost more.

It's simple; if you want to cut welfare in half, overnight, put these people to work picking up trash.  They show up at the county garage four days a week (the fifth is free for them to look for a job) and get trucked out to pick up trash.  No show up, no free money.  No babysitter?  Not our problem.

End of welfare.

And they lived happily ever after.

I don't know...

If we put the testing place right IN the welfare offices...make it part of the paperwork... a simple pass/fail sort of thing...it MIGHT work.

As far as making them work, that would work for the men, but women with children are the  problem. Child care would suck out more money then they would even make.

Maybe making them co-op babysitting, or work x amount of hours every week in a day care facility watching the other welfare moms kids?

I don't know.

I wish they wouldn't have kids they can't afford.

Double Amen.

Okay, how about they get one month to lay around and eat Cheetos.  After that, it's picking up cigarette butts on Route 66....?

If we pay them more to drop more kids, they do it--and this is what we're doing now.  It's like financial aid for schooling.  Got kids?  Shit...free ride.  In the meantime, a woman without kids has a larger bill for her education.
