I have a floor safe at my store. The previous owner never used it, and didn't know the combination.

I've decided I want to use the safe, but I need someone to open it.

I called a couple of places today, and nobody would give me a price on cracking it.

Anyone have any experience with something like this, and what should I expect to pay?

10.5" x 10.5" with combination lock, and steel lid.

Thanks for any info.

Try contacting the manufacturer. You might just end up spending more to get it cracked than a new replacement costs.

That would be the fun way, but I need the rest of my store intact.

I called the manufacturer today. They wouldn't give me a price on cracking it, not even a ballpark price. They said they would have to send someone out.

The lock still spins smoothly, the lid is rusted, but I think it will clean up ok.

The previous owner never used it, so who knows, there maybe something in it, but I doubt it.

I know someone at ARFCOM knows how to crak a safe.

Let's hope it's a little more exciting than the briefcase thread.

I remember someone posting how to open the case, and it worked. Maybe someone will come along here.

I'm onboard with the tannerite idea.

No serial number on the safe??

If so, they have the manuf. usually retains the info for the combination.

Also, no locksmiths in the area??

+1 on the Serial number.
If it doesn't have that. Since it is a combination lock, call around and find a locksmith with a auto dialer. My work has one, usly takes 2 days to a week to get most safes open.  It trieds all combinations till it get it open.

Jackhammers are cheap. Make a dust-control booth our of a cheap tarp and a shopvac and git'er done.

I didn't see a seiel #, but it needs a good cleaning. One may show when it's cleaned.

I called the manu. and a few other safe companys. I haven't tried a ock smith yet.

That is my next call.

This thing has a drop slot, it's  10.5x10.5  and from what I can tell 18" deep, also it's in concrete. If you didn't know it was there, you probably couldn't find it.

Who makes it?

I've seen the locksmith take 5 min to 2 days opening a safe.

I called the Co who's name was on a sticker on the top of the safe. I've been up since 0330, and I'm drawing a blank. It wasn't a name I had ever heard of before.

I'll be at the FD tomorrow, so I can't clean it up until Thurs.
maybe a seriel # will be visible then.

Digging it up would probably be as cheap as getting it cracked, but it would be hard to do that without people seeing what was going on. It would be in plain view of customers coming in.

If I get it opened, nobody will have a clue it's there, which would keep a robber from trying to force an employee to open it.

I found someone to open it. They said a min. of $30, but they may have to drill the lock, and replace it, which would be more. He is right down the street, so I'm going to let him try it.
