SInce Michigan got moved back to #3 so that they would get good rating rating from an OSU/UCS East/West game, What happens to Michigan? DO they at least get a bowl game? |
Their are many problems with BCS, Because even if you do a certain other team who win their cant play you due to rules. In 97 the championship got split between Nebraska and Michigan, yet they couldn't play each other in a championship game like they should have. Yes michigan lost to OSU but it was only by three and the ONLY game they lost. All the other teams lost more games, or by more points than Michigan, plus they play each other every season so that rule is retarded IMO |
I actually agree with this and think that if the NCAA can't figure out how to implement a proper playoff -- with at least 4 teams (8 would be better) that teams should at least have to be a conference champion (by whatever rules the conference implements) before they can play in the NC game. It must have hurt the Michigan fans to find themselves rooting for ND last weekend. Ouch! - CD |
Woulda, coulda, shoulda. They had their chance at #1 and blew it. There should not get a "do over" for all the marbles. How is that fair to Ohio State?
It is not a rule, just a semi-widely held opinion. |
Fair has got nothing to do with it. As a long time Buckeye fan, I would welcome UM getting another shot IF the (stupid) BCS system says that's what happens. I actually think the wolverines are the 2nd best team in the nation this year. The one thing that all the UM fans have forgotten about is if they lose to OSU again, I doubt they'll ever get an opportunity to beat OSU 2x in one year. I'll put my money on Troy and Tressel -- against USC, Florida, or UM. Go Bucks. I have my bowl tour reservations for Glendale in hand already -- should be a blast. [:D) - CD |

| The reason why Michigan shouldn't get a second chance is because we don't KNOW who has the strongest conference this year. Everyone has their guess, but because the conferences largely don't play one another, we don't know who's the best. So when you have a one loss SEC Champion, and a one loss PAC 10 champion, they should get the nod over a one-loss team who isn't the Big 10 Champion when the actual Big 10 Champion is already in the game. Simple as that. |
Amerisuites Phoenix. We booked the Monday after the NW game and the monday after the Michigan game, our tour was sold out. It is going to be Columbus-west out there, just like in 2002. There is something awesome about walking through the Tempe mall and shout "O-H" and get about thirty "I-O"s |
The UM football program ranks first in NCAA history in both total wins and winning percentage. The University of Michigan remains the only school in NCAA history to win at least one national championship in all four of these sports: baseball, basketball (men's), football, and ice hockey (men's). Ohio State just needs to win the next 17 consecutive games against UofM to have a .500 record against them. 103 Games 57 Wins for UofM 40 Wins for OSU 6 Ties Lloyd Carr has been named one of nine finalists for the Eddie Robinson Award. The annual award is presented to the nation’s top head coach by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Other finalists for the award are: Art Briles (Houston), Jim Grobe (Wake Forest), June Jones (Hawaii), Bronco Mendenhall (BYU), Bob Stoops (Oklahoma), Houston Nutt (Arkansas), Chris Petersen (Boise State) and Greg Schiano (Rutgers). |
Keep dreaming. He is the highest paid coach in college football. He had interest from the Browns and he quickly put the kabash on those rumors. Thad Matta and Jim Tressel are here to stay. Sucks to be the rest of the NCAA. |

this little factoid is from the SEC Champ game press guide:
|
when you say "funny" you mean fucked up, right? Seriously though...Oh St is undefeated....they clearly deserve to play for the championship. the others...not so much. (USC is certainly more deserving than Meatchicken) what pisses me off....the Oh St/Mich game...if that score had happened in the SEC (as it did frequently in the 90's) the Big 10 fans would say it was weak football. |
|
I think UM is better than USC, but I tend to agree that Ohio shouldn't have to beat them twice for the national championship. They had their chance, they blew it. There shouldn't be a double jeopardy situation. I tend to agree that USC doesn't deserve a shot either, but the problem with that is everyone else deserves a shot less. Hell, just give the title to Ohio, and let UM and USC play for 2nd place. |
I never said I like OSU... I just want to vomit when I hear about Michigan. Considering Gerald Ford went there, nothing "moron" needs to be said. |
That actually isn't that bad of an idea. |
Yep. He did it now. The OSU fans will be along shortly to burn down the thread. |

Wow, lots of buckeye lovers on this board..... Look at it this way: Michigan lost by 3 to #1 ranked team on the road. USC lost by 2 to an UNranked team on the road. (Still need to beat UCLA) Florida lost by 10 to a #10 ranked team on the road. (Still need to beat Ark) I think Michigan should be the second ranked team in the country still, however I doubt they will be at the end of the year because the voters will not keep to teams from the same conference in the NC.... too bad, they deserve it. GO BLUE!!! |
So did Clarence L. Kelly Johnson; winner of two Collier trophies, the National Medal of Science, and the Medal of Freedom. If one whacked out democrat makes you hate something, then I really can't understand your love for Southern California. |
How is USC more deserving of a shot at the title? They lost to an unranked team end of story. Michigan lost to the #1 team in the country by three points. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the home team get three points by default, 42-39 take away OSU's 3 point home field advantage and that looks like an even game to me. Oregon State was giving USC 3 points at home and won 33-31 that's a 5 point swing the other way. I'm a Michigan fan but I don't think that there'll be a rematch even though It would still be the two best teams in the nation playing. The BCS wants an intersectional game and they'll probably get it. |
Yeah, you're right. Florida played the toughest schedule in the country and emerged with one referee-influenced loss on the road in a difficult venue. We deserve to play OSU if we beat Arkansas, but we haven't won pretty. I was just being nice because USC played a difficult schedule too. Mich deserves to play the 2nd place team in another conference. |
But, did they win their conference??????????????? Seems like they've fell short of that goal, no? No conference championship, no national title. Seems pretty simple, cut & dried, IMO.
|
Yet USC lost to an unranked team, and the gators lost to a #10 team. Michigan should be the #2 team... |
Care to share how many ranked teams were on their schedule during that run???????
|
USC is the defending champion, aren't they? They have only one loss, as does a host of other teams. They deserve to defend their title, IMO. |
Yet they won't win their own conference, will they????
And if they do, they WILL win their own conference championship.
And if they do, they WILL win their own conference championship. You can't win your own conference, you damn sure don't rate a shot at the #1 team in a bowl game....................
