Anyone here playing this simulation? I used to play one of the older versions and I am tempted to buy this one.

I have it. (H3: Advanced Naval Warfare)

The good:
Runs like a champ, excellent supply system, etc and so forth. (Everything you would expect from a Harpoon game.)

The bad:
The default scenarios are about 3 trillion years old. Granted, there is NOTHING wrong with replaying Dawn Patrol or Fortress Keflavik, but if you want something from the 21st century, you need to download scenarios that other folks put out.

Just heard about an open source psuedo-Harpoonish game called 'Global Conflict Blue. From what I see, it looks good...

Had the older Harpoon version.  Bouth Fleet Command.
I am buying the new Harpoon 3 later in December, along with
Carriers at War (updated for Windows).

I hate to be a dick, but I thought this was about the Real Harpoon missile. Isn;t there a gaming forum for toy talking???????

Well, your first clue is that there is no 'AGM-84 Harpoon 3'...

I bought it online after finding the demo while looking up info about the real Harpoon missile. H3:ANW is actually a fun game despite it's DOS-based graphics and low-brow audio/video clips.

There are a ton of add-on scenarios out there that people have made that are literally ripped from the headlines.

You're right...hence the curiousity. The point...isn't there a forum just for gaming?

Wow, this brings back memories.  I use to play for hours on my trusty old Mac II.  (With the uber cool color monitor!)

I loved playing Harpoon on my old 386.  Even the catalog of the scenareos were awsome.

I waited for Harpoon 2 so long I forgot about it.  I thought it was all vaporware that would NEVER be released.

Too bad the AI sucked on Harpoon.  Still, it was fun sinking the entire Russian fleet with a 688 and a squadron of F-18s.

I'm not so sure about H3 ANW. The kicker is I spent many, many hours playing H2 when it came out. Maybe it just seems dated today, and the AI hasn't really been improved at all. I have yet to sample the joys of multiplayer with it.

Although I think I've run H3ANW for all of about 20 minutes since I bought it, and effectively shelved it, I've little regret at spending the cash if it indicates viability for the commercial version of H4, if they ever dust it off.

That said, I'm primarily a miniatures player anyway. Computer Harpoon is just so limited as to what you can do...
