Question for the engineers and mathletes in the forum...

A 10 lb sledge hammer head dropped from 20 feet up in an workover rig (oil derrick)...

How much force would it exert when it hit the floor?

(I need this for an accident reconstruction, thanks!)

I don't think 20 feet would be enough distance to reach terminal velocity... but a 10lb sledge is going to hurt like hell if it falls on someone!
