Trying to get some extra credit for my Physics 101 class and I am having trouble. I've never been much of a bible reader, and I don't even know where to begin looking. Can anyone help, chapter and verse would be great. |
Um , what makes you think the bible will so abundant in physics lessons and examples? Its a book about Gods dealing with men.

The Old Testament describes the Earth as a circle or "sphere" at a time when the majority of the world believed that the world was flat. "It is He who sits above the circle (sphere) of the earth" Isaiah 40:22 (NKJ). When we consider that twenty-eight centuries ago the prevailing view of the earth was that it was flat and resting on the back of an animal or Greek god, the biblical view of a spherical earth suspended on nothing is amazing. |
Damn, busted. Now I got to go wash my hand. |

burning bush that was not consumed. moses struck the rock and water gushed out mannah from heaven (anything large from heaven, what was it? tornadoe? ) moses parting red sea Jesus turning water to wine noah creating an ark so large by hand Aaron's staff turning to a snake Meshak, Shadrak, Abednigo not burned by the fire |
you assume the universe consist of only two sources of light: our sun, our moon. You do realize the milky way ain't just a candy bar? |

I think there's some dimensions of a big thing like a cattle tank back in the Old Testament, when they built the Temple. The dimensions given indicate tha pi= 3. Not 3 point anything, but exactly "3". Not the best mathematics, but you might could find it and sho either that they were off, OR they were close, depending on where your instructor is on the theological scale. Anyway, you might to post this over in the religion forum. There's a few guys over there who are big on quoting chapter and verse. |
Joshua 6 2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. 3 March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. 4 Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. 5 When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in." |
Damn, thanks man. That would demonstrate something along the lines of resonance, that's great. |
Except the stars weren't created until 3 days after as well. |
God said, "let their be light." that's all it took. if the universe was no more, there would still be light. |
Ps 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. --- written 2,000 + years before Columbus, the Bible writers knew the earth was round . . . Gen 1: 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good . . . 24 ¶ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 1Co 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. Seems like man still has problems with some of these concepts . . . |
"Day" could have also been translated "process of time." Besides, the whole creation story is an allegory. It's not meant to be a science lesson (though there are some truths in it) . . . |
All but the ark were miricles, not physics. As for the ark, remember that Noah the other builders spend hundreds of years building it. |
