If you can transcode the vidieo file to .wmv or .mpg there are several "free" video editing programs available at SourceForge.net.

Here is one from that site that should do the trick:

If that one doesn't do what you want then check out a few of the other programs.
If none of those are what you're looking for then you'll probably have to buy some sort of video editing solution.

I use Dell Movie Studio, Nero, or Sonic.

Can you input pictures/movies/music with those programs?

I always wanted to create military videos, but never found a great prog to do it with.

well windows XP comes with Windows movie maker.  if you're just removing commercials then it's easy and simple.  

You probably already have it so it's convienent.


that being said I use Adobe Premier Pro
