I've been having a problem with Internet Expolrer and now I can't even open it anymore. I'm getting a error with the code: 0cx0000005 in it. I've downloaded Error Killer and it didn't work.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Depending on your OS you may be able to do a system restore to a known "safe" point.  Go back to that date and reinstall any programs since that point carefully!
I'd have to believe you have a corrupted registry file somewhere and its not giving you the boot up you'd like.
If that works your in. If not you may have to do a complete OS reinstall and that really "bites"!

Good luck and use Firefox.  Internet Exploder, IMHO, is a bloated, resource hungry crash-monster just waiting in the weeds to implode on you at the worst possible moment.

Agreed on the IE, but now I have a yellow caution sign with a ! inside popping up in my task bar saying that I need to run a security center update because my: spyware protection system has undergone an error I click on the sign to run it and it goes to IE, which is not working

Thanks for any help guys!

Try using Firefox or something unless you love Internet explorer.  Before that try this.  http://www.registryfix.com/?hop=gemini02.  I read something quick on a forum website and it seemed to fix the person's issue (the same one as you).

I purchased, downloaded, and ran Error Killer, which was SUPPOSED to fix the problem but now it didn't. Man this sucks.

I am using Firefox, but the problem now is that icon on the taskbar that keeps popping up saying that I need to download a patch from WIndows Security center. I can't because when I click on it, it automatically goes to IE.

try starting up in safe mode?  (and do your 'fixes' there)

norton system works or anti could be hogging your system resources... (I've seen that before)

You need to uninstall your antivirus software and reinstall it , go to add or remove programs.

You can uninstall and then reinstall IE. You -might- be able to do it without needing the OS CD (some installs will do this) but you should make sure you have it around just in case.

After you re-install it, it will need updating right away, because it will be at whatever version came on the OS CD.

What version of IE?  My first solution would be to fire up FireFox, go to microsoft's website, and download the newest version of IE.

Actually... my first solution would be to turn off security updates and use FireFox :P
