Yeah that looks like shit alright. The seller clearly states that some idiot did the work, can't really fault him. Perfect example of (maybe) the basis for a custom bigbore rifle. No fear of messing up a historical weapon, that's already been done. On the other hand, I think his opening price of $300.00 is unrealistic. The action may not be beyond saving, but I would want to have it in hand before making that call. I haven't priced 1917 actions/parts lately but my gut feeling is that you might get "most" of 100.00/150.00 back selling the parts, sans receiver.
