| So I noticed a spot in the ceiling that appeared to be a leak. Got in the attack-yep. The house was built in March of 2005. The a/c unit has some PVC that I am assuming is for condensation. The question is: Is PVC meant to be heated up and formed to whatever shape the builder chooses? I was able to temp fix the problem with duct tape but know that will only last a short time. Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

As a quick fix take a wet vac and where your drain line comes out the house, hook up the wet vac here and suck out the line.If that doesn't work you need to open up the air handler and blow out this drain line with a water hose. As a HVAC mechanic,builders/architects should be shot for putting an air handler in the attic. All this does is insure no preventive maintance will ever be done until there's a problem. |
| hi i'm a apt. maint. guy, and deal with this stuff all the time.... to help me help you, tell me if the condensate leak is on a pvc joint or on a strait section??..if on a joint it might be a better idea to cut the line at the leak and cement a new section on.....the more i know the better i can help..by the way that one fella has good info ,if the condensate line is clogged you can try to use a wet shop vac to clear the line ..if it continues to leak you might have a pan /line problem ...vince g. 11b inf..... |
